Have had this on my bucket list for several years, and finally drove to the top of Pike's Peak. I have hiked fourteeners before, but there was something so cool about driving 48 miles up the side of this mountain and getting a 360° view from above the clouds!

Every time I photograph at Great Sand Dunes National Park, the pics always look like a painting. That's not do to any of my skills but always reminds me of the world's best watercolor artist...God! He always pays attention to the details and His color palette is astonishing!

I'm a solo full-time traveler and tend to gravitate toward solemn, solitary scenes. I have always been attracted to this abandoned farmhouse in the San Luis Valley of Colorado. It overlooks not only the vast potato fields in this verdant region, but also Great Sand Dunes National Park. So many tourists pass by this scene on the way to the park, but how many think about the families that inhabited this home, farmed its fields and withstood the harsh winds and weather for more than a hundred years? Thank you, Lord, for reminders like this of stalwart ancestors and farming history.

Been off grid for awhile, as our plans changed. Sully's not handling humidity well and Shelley's got pneumonia, so we came home to Buena Vista for a few days to recuperate and restrategize. I always love coming home!

I'm a nut for the Santa Fe Trail and have been photographing parts of it for years. Having grown up close the the Little Blue River crossing in Kansas City, it has always fascinated me. Well, I finally got the last KC region location visited. This is the Rice-Tremont Home that was a camping spot for many getting ready to head out on the Santa Fe, California and Oregon trails. I can just imagine families camped in the tree-covered fields still surrounding this beautiful place. I have often thought that I could have joined them back in 1821, because we share that kindred spirit of adventure and exploration.

I am finally a hero in my dog's eyes. I took him to Bossart Bark Park in Tyler, Texas and got schooled on how to create the best dog park ever. There must be 10 acres dedicated to doggie play. Lots of shade and yet huge fields of GRASS to chase a ball without retrieving a mouth full of dirt. There's even a pond to swim in. And to top it off there are livestock water containers with hoses and fresh running water to bathe the dirt off your pooch. Sully and another Golden were the only two dogs here and they had two hours of fun!

Had an amazing visit to the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs. It's largely interactive, so I tried skiing a giant slalom course, running the skeleton and shooting a bow in biathlon, but won't make any team, that's for sure! This is an absolutely wonderful museum and should be on any Colorado Springs visitor's list of Must Sees!
