A 3-day trail running event on the spectacular island of Ibiza? 🌅

Count us in.

The 3 Días Trail Ibiza is an exciting and challenging trail running race set on this famous island that is perhaps better known for late-night parties and hedonism. The race takes place during Ibiza’s off-season, which allows athletes to experience a quieter side to the island (as well as cheaper accommodation and travel costs).

The race combines stunning natural landscapes with a rigorous physical challenge. The trails let runners explore some of Ibiza’s most breathtaking scenery, including coastal cliffs, dense forests, and panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea. Sustainability is also in focus during the race, with all routes adhering to local environmental laws to ensure the island’s natural beauty remains unspoiled.

The 3 Días Trail Ibiza offers a variety of races for runners to choose from, with Friday evening kicking off proceedings with a 10km night run. On Saturday, runners can challenge themselves with an 85 km ultramarathon, a full marathon, half marathon, or a 10K. Finally, on Sunday, the three-day event culminates with a 10km race.

Taking place in late November, where average temperatures reach 15°C, there’s no better time to experience Ibiza in all its splendour. Plus, it’s super easy to register for this event - simply click the link in our bio! Hurry, there’s currently an Early Bird discount 🐦

Welcome to the Eker I Run 42K Marathon Race 🇹🇷

This is an unbelievably breathtaking downhill marathon through Mount Uludag, located in eastern Turkey. Offering a scenic road track, this race begins at the peaks of Uludağ, standing 2230 metres high, to eventually reach the flat 117 metre elevation of Eker Square ⛰️

As you can imagine, the views at this elevation of the surrounding mountains are truly incomparable and make a beautiful companion to this unique race 🌄 There are plenty of elevation challenges throughout the race and, helpfully, water supply points every 5 km. Downhill marathons are also known to encourage faster runs than those with level terrain, making this race all the more exciting. The speed of the wind on the descents allows you to fully experience the feeling of freedom!

As well as the full 42 km marathon, there’s also a 15 km and 5 km race taking place on the same day 🏃🏻‍♀️

Congratulations Tadej Pogačar! 🚴‍♂️

The incredible Tadej Pogačar made history by completing the first Giro d’Italia-Tour de France double victory of the 21st century!

The Slovenian cyclist dominated the Tour de France’s final time trial in Nice yesterday, securing his victory by over 6 minutes and concluding a race that he has dominated from start to finish. Pogačar won five mountain stages in this edition of the Tour de France, which hasn’t happened since 1948. Overall, throughout the two Grand Tours, Pogacar led for 39 days and amassed an impressive lead.

In other news, Mark Cavendish has bid farewell in this year’s Tour, after celebrating his 35th stage win. Eritrean Biniam Girmay won the green jersey, and Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz took home the King of the Mountains title.

There’s no doubt in our mind that Pogacar's remarkable performance cements his place among cycling's greats 🌟

Time seems to stand still in the unspoiled Valle Maira, a picturesque valley in the Western Alps of northwestern Italy ⛰️

The valley is characterised by rugged mountain peaks, lush meadows, and dense forests. A network of trails runs through this region, passing by traditional Alpine villages and the River Maira. And it’s these trails that athletes navigate at the enchanting Maira Occitan Trail run, a magical and unique trail adventure through the mountains 🌲🏃‍♂️‍➡️

The course winds through the mountains, starting in the Marmora-Canosio basin and passing by ancient villages. A tough, mountainous stage then follows, with a maximum elevation of nearly 2900 metre atop Sagne hill. The third stage takes place under the looming rocky towers of the Castello-Provenzale mountainous complex.

The Valle Maira region is emblematic of slow, or sustainable, tourism. Visitors gain access to an unspoiled location and can enjoy low-impact accommodation, eco-friendly facilities, and traditional activities. The local Alpine cuisine will also delight taste buds, with specialities such as polenta, cheese from mountain dairies, and cured meats.

The Maybank Bali Marathon has once been voted one of the 52 best races in the world by Runners World. It’s also Indonesia’s first marathon and is the country’s first and only ‘Elite Label’ marathon.

You can check out more details about the race and its course in last week’s post. But today, we’re exploring 3 different ways that visitors can experience this special island.

🏄 As a thrill seeker:
Marathon not enough for you? Bali is a haven for adventure-lovers, so you can certainly get your adrenaline fix here. Surf at Kuta or Uluwatu, hike up Mount Batur for an unbeatable sunrise trek, or explore the island’s underwater world by diving and snorkelling in places like Nusa Penida. The truly brave can try canyoning in northern Bali!

🧘🏻‍♀️As a wellness seeker:
Yoga retreats are everywhere in Bali! Find your inner peace at a retreat in Ubud or Canggu, where you can explore classes, workshops, and holistic therapies. You can also indulge in Balinese massages and spa treatments at resorts and wellness centres–perfect for unwinding after an intense running race.

🧳 As a digital nomad:
With its high-speed internet coverage, extensive network of co-working spaces (especially in towns like Ubud), and breathtaking island scenery, Bali has become a hugely popular destination for digital nomads. Why not combine remote work with a marathon in one of the most beautiful places in the world?

Wondering how to get to Bali? The best (and only) way is by flying, with the island’s Denpasar-Ngurah Rai International Airport receiving flights from all over the world. From Europe, flights often only require one stopover (in Istanbul, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur). From the US, fly via Singapore, Seoul, or Hong Kong, while Japan and Australia enjoy direct flights ✈️

One final thing: there are limited tickets left for this race, reserved for overseas runners only! Entries are available exclusively through Ahotu or World’s Marathons. To find out more and register down below 🏝️

10/07/2024

It’s one of the most prestigious and gruelling bike races in the world, covering 21 stages over 23 days.

It’s also the 2nd most watched sports event in the whole word, with more than 15 million in-person spectators and 3.5 billion (!) viewers tuning in from their televisions.

It couldn’t be anything else but the ICONIC Tour de France 🇫🇷

Stage 11 of this nail biting race has just kicked off (literally, minutes ago!), with cyclists treated to a mountain stage of 1,300 metres. This follows an incredible first week, where we saw a historic Grand Départ in Italy for the first time, Biniam Girmay making history as the first Eritrean and African cyclist to win a stage at Stage 3, and Richard Carapaz being the first Ecuadorian to win the yellow jersey in the same stage.

Not quite sure what all this talk of yellow jerseys and mountain climbs means? You’re in the right place, as we’re here to break things down for you.

First, let’s look at the different stages:
🚴The flat stages tend to offer less challenging terrain, but can be tricky due to wind and high speeds. This is where the sprinters shine!
🗻Mountain stages feature steep climbs and high altitudes, in the Alps and the Pyrenees, and is where the climbers excel.
⏱️Individual (ITT) and team (TTT) time trials are when cyclists race against the clock.
⛰️Hilly stages have rolling terrain and are best suited to breakaways and puncheurs.

And what about the different jerseys the cyclists can win?
🟡 The highly-coveted yellow jersey is awarded to the rider with the lowest overall time.
🟢 The green jersey is given to the best sprinter, based on points awarded during flat stages and intermediate sprints.
🔴⚪ The polka dot jersey is awarded to the best climber, for points given during the mountain stages.
⚪ The white jersey is given to the best young rider under 26, based on the lowest overall time.

Wondering who to watch? Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia/UAE Team Emirates) is currently wearing the leader’s yellow jersey, with Remco Evenepoe (Belgium/Soudal-Quick Step)l and Jonas Vingegaard (Denmark/Visma-Lease a Bike) in 2nd and 3rd position in general classification after stage 10.
