Manali to Leh via Rohtang pass-
Leh–Manali Highway is a highway in northern India connecting Manali to Leh Ladakh total distance 478km. It is open for only about four and a half months in a year in summer between May or June, when the snow is cleared, and close again in mid-October when snowfall again blocks the high passes. It connects Manali valley to Lahaul and Spiti valleys and Zanskar valley in LadakhThe route is
Manali – Rohtang – Gramphu – Kokhsar –Tandi- Keylong – Jispa – Darcha – Zingzingbar – Baralacha La – Bharatpur – Sarchu – Gata Loops – Nakee La – Lachulung La – Pang - Tanglang La – Gya - Upshi - Karu – Leh.

This is the most common route to Leh. This route is both scynic and dangerous. People sometime underestimate the power of nature. During our trip to Leh we came across few people who wanted to do Leh Ladakh trip but as per their preparation it seems as if they are going to goa on a luxury trip. Even after notifications they seem to turn a blind eye. This may be coz of over confidence. So when you are preparing for Leh always ask for guidance and never underestimate nature. Few things to know:
No matter how adventures you are, This place is strictly not for Honeymoon couples. Keep yourself dry and hydrated. Do take proper medication for AMS / high altitude mountain sickness. We provide Diamox to our participants for the same. You have to take permit from SDM office in Manali to cross Rohtang pass as the no of vehicles to cross Rohtang is restricted now as new laws. Proper safety gears are mandatory both for rider and pillion rider. Always cheque vehicle before the trip. If going by car Do Not Use Heaters because the warm air by heater destroys the levels of oxygen content present inside and can make breathing very difficult and aggravate the AMS Symptoms. Do not drink and drive. Back up required so that you can be rescued when you get stuck. After Manali last fuel station is at Tandi before Keylong, we always catry extra fuel because after that you will find fuel station in karu (30km before Leh). You can take kids with you but above 5 yrs of age only. Elderly people should consult their doctor to avoid health hazards, we had a 63 year old gentalmen from South Africa who completed the 14 days trip on bike easily.
