Never had one sailor fail to "pay up", I stood in line right after the paymaster at, 5 for 7.

Saddened to hear of our ships Captain Gene Yarber passing away, his absence leaves a hole in my heart. RIP!

I wish all the sailors in attendance at the San Antonio Reunion a hearty congratulations for keeping healthy this far. 46 years after crossing the Quarterdeck for Liberty Call.
Thank you for your service!

I'm back in Florence, Oregon this summer for some camping and running the dunes. This is the site of the 1st Kishwaukee reunion, it was a huge success. I hope Frank Rodriguez has a good turnout for the San Antonio reunion this year.

I called Joe Robinsons' widow last night to check in. Her name is Adeline, she is 81 years old now and continues to live in the home she shared with "Robbie" in Mililani, Hawaii. She and Robbie were very good friends with Julio and Rosita Murillo. Adeline had not heard about their passing. Adeline continues to deal with the VA for beneficiary benefits, I wished her well and instructed her to contact a VA Advocate there in Honolulu for getting help.

I received a note from Ed Lasage, Julio Murillo's nephew, telling me of Jullio's passing. Chief Murillo was a man to be respected. When he spoke people listened. The Chief will be missed.
When I get more information I will send it along.

My father-in-law Chief Petty Officer, Charles Waxham, swam away from the "Lady Lex" after the orders of "Abandon Ship" were given. He was picked up by a motor whaleboat then transfered to a Destroyer Es**rt. He had his hair burned off after swimming in the fires on top of the water, but otherwise healthy. He returned to duty on the USS Tamalpais AO. Charles refused to ever talk about the ordeal, passing away in 1999.

Standing watch during fuel off-loading near the Cua Viet River, the Shipfitters and Damage Controlmen were required to keep track of these pressure gauges during fuel transfer, to make sure that we were transfering fuel into about 2000 feet of 4 inch hose.
