I’m stepping up to help MSF save lives.

MSF is holding its annual fundraiser, Walk Without Borders. I am committing to walk to work every day for the next month, in solidarity with MSF's patients around the world who have to walk long distances to access life saving care and basic necessities. If at all possible, I ask that you consider donating to the cause - every dollar raised will help MSF provide emergency medical relief to people caught in crises — from skyrocketing malnutrition in South Sudan to the refugees currently trying to reach a safe home, and the people affected by unimaginable violence in the Central African Republic.

After spending the first week of July between the Okanagan and Victoria, I flew to Calgary on July 12. From there, I bussed and hostelled across the Prairies, through Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg. I flew back to Vancouver at the beginning of August, and spent a grand total of 12 hours in my own house. From there, I boarded a 90 hour train to Montreal.

Today, I left my parent's house at 5:45 Ottawa time and flew to Vancouver. Landed at 9:55 Vancouver time. Got on a sky train, then a bus, then a ferry, and I'm finally going to be home, 10 hours later, at 1pm Vancouver time. I'm not leaving for my next trip until September 7. I'm so excited to go lie down.

Lots of action at Calgary airport! A mum two tables away from me is setting up a meal for her son who isn't feeling well. As she goes to get her son, another woman mistakenly assumes that the food on the table is garbage, and puts more garbage from another table onto it. The mother comes back, and starts yelling at the other woman about her son being sick, how dare she touch his food, etc. etc. The woman clearly feels bad, apologizes profusely, mum keeps yelling. Handsome man on my right invites her to sit at his table
