**UNPOPULAR TRAVEL TREND: WALT DISNEY WORLD EDITION**

Skip Magic Kingdom on the first day of your Walt Disney World vacation 🏰 (Trust me!)

Instead…try scheduling ANIMAL KINGDOM as the first park you visit!

HERE’S WHY:

Most families want to head straight for the castle that first day of their big Disney vacation. I disagree. It’s the biggest, most overwhelming and overstimulating park of them all, with the MOST attractions, which means it can also be the most stressful on that first park day.

That first park day of your Disney vacation is one giant learning curve (no matter how much we’ve planned and prepped, it’s just a lot to take in!) and Magic Kingdom is the last park you want to “learn” in.

Insert: Animal Kingdom 🦒

The smallest, most laid back of the 4 parks, with the fewest amount of attractions which means it’s a great park to “practice” on that first day.

Practice getting on the bus, scanning into the park, scanning into your Lightning Lane attractions, mobile ordering lunch, figuring out which shoes are the most comfortable, packing your park bag - all of these are key factors that can either stress you out in an overwhelming park, or, you can learn how to manage it all in a park that is less confusing, less stressful and well, overall more manageable.

(Bonus: it’s also *usually* the least crowded of them all!)

Planning Disney vacations has been my expertise for nearly 8 years and this is one of the BIGGEST tips I tell all of our clients when I start helping them map out their park days. ✨ This small tip alone will set you up for success!

I’ll be sharing more “Unpopular Travel Trends” like this more regularly because sometimes, when it comes to traveling, “trendy” isn’t always in. 😉

We’ve traded the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with family for brunch with characters (sorry, mom! ❤️) for the past 4 years and each year, it gets more and more special.

The hustle and bustle of cooking and cleaning, making 37 trips to the store and 92 laps around the kitchen doesn’t exist in Disney!

Instead, it’s sleeping in and watching the Macy’s Day Parade from your resort while eating a giant donut on the ironing board. ( ).

It’s knowing all the beds will be made and the room will be cleaned when you return, without lifting a finger. (Thank you, mousekeeping! 🧹)

It’s walking downstairs to be chauffeured to brunch, instead of driving across town. And when you arrive to brunch, you’re greeted with the most cheerful cast members waving and wishing you a ‘Happy Thanksgiving’.

It’s Mickey waffles and POG juice, and hugs from Tiana and Aladdin. ✨

It’s the smell of Disney’s Grand Floridian during the holidays and shopping for family members back home at the resort shops.

Most of all, it’s the uninterrupted time spent with one another. No iPads or video games. No football games blaring (🙄) in the living room. No mess, no hustle or bustle.

And for all of that, I am incredibly grateful. 🧡

There’s no denying Walt Disney World will be hustling and bustling this Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.

From someone with experience traveling over peak weeks, here are the top 3 things you need to know if you plan to visit the parks this holiday season:

1. Crowds are going to peak over the weeks school is out which means Lightning Lanes are going to be your best friend: both Multi Pass and Single Pass, for all 4 parks. It will be the best investment you make. (If I had to choose between the dining plan and Lightning Lanes, I’d choose Lightning Lanes every time.)

2. I highly recommend Premier Pass the day before, day of & day after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Multi Pass selections are going to book up the quickest these days, which means your options are going to be slim. Having Premier Pass will allow you to enjoy the most popular rides without waiting in line or risking the Multi Passes selling out, and the best part - you don’t have to schedule anything!

3. Generally speaking, Magic Kingdom is *least* crowded on days Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party is going on. Park hopping is great on days like this because you can start at Magic Kingdom, enjoy lower crowds earlier in the day and then “hop” to another park later in the day when Magic Kingdom closes for the Christmas party.

Bonus: pack your patience and prioritize what’s most important to your family. You don’t have to (also, can’t possibly) do everything in one week so soak up the magic, make the memories & focus on spending time together! ❤️

Headed to Saint Vincent soon? (If not, you should be!) Here are 3 things you’ll want to know before packing your bags:

1️⃣ Saint Vincent & the Grenadines uses the same large, square, three-pin adapter plug style as the UK. However, the standard voltage in Saint Vincent & the Grenadines is 110/230V at 50/60 Hz, and the voltage can vary by region, city, or hotel. If you’re traveling from the US, you’ll need a power converter or a power strip. While US-style outlets are available in most resorts, they are few and far between.

2️⃣ Speaking of outlets, it is illegal to place outlets in hotel room bathrooms in Saint Vincent. You’ll want to bring a small extension cord as most outlets are placed right outside your hotel room bathroom or vanity area so you’ll need extra length to reach the bathroom. 💁🏼‍♀️

3️⃣ Volcanic by nature, St. Vincent is one of few Caribbean islands that has beautiful & unique black sand beaches! That being said, the sand is hot hot hot 🔥and can also get stuck in the fibers of light colored swimsuits. You’re going to want to wear shoes on the beach, as well as dark colored swimsuits in order to protect your feet & your swimsuits.

Bonus: be prepared to fall absolutely head over heels in love with the “Vincy” culture here. We’ve traveled to some of the most beautiful countries in the Caribbean but I can wholeheartedly say the St. Vincentians are some of the most beautiful people in the world, inside and out. ❤️
