Chris Smart Films A documentary video production company for the Midlands, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire,

Welcome to Chris Smart Film and Photography, where storytelling comes to life through the lens. With a passion that has burned since 1993 when I graduated from the prestigious School of Documentary Photography in Newport, South Wales, I've dedicated my career to capturing the essence of the human experience. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with esteemed organisations such as the

BBC, Cadw, The Eden Project, the NHS, various charities, and local councils. My work is characterised by its ability to shine a spotlight on the issues that truly matter and evoke deep emotional connections. My talent lies in enabling people to open up and share their life stories, and this gift has led to my films gracing prime-time television. One of my most notable works, "Rachel's Story," touched hearts across the UK and even found a place in schools back in 2004. In 2013, I took on a new challenge of transforming Communications and Marketing at St Michael's Hospice in Hereford. During my tenure, I revolutionised the hospice's approach to patient and supporter engagement. I crafted patient literature, built an impactful website, promoted events, and played a pivotal role in raising the millions required to fund and maintain a new hospice. I also had the privilege of creating compelling films showcasing individuals living life to the fullest at the end of their journey. Today, I'm returning to my first love, filmmaking, with a fresh purpose. My focus is on working exclusively with organisations and charities that are making a genuine difference in the world. Whether it's a local running group seeking to expand its membership, a yoga teacher looking to share their practice, or individuals with groundbreaking ideas to benefit humanity, my mission is to create affordable films that drive meaningful change. I'm not just here to provide services; I'm here to collaborate, chat, and meet so we can begin the journey of bringing your vision to life. Together, we can make a real difference through the power of visual storytelling. Thank you for considering me as your creative partner in this remarkable journey.

Thirty-five years ago, I embarked on my journey to study at the world-renowned School of Documentary Photography in Newport, Gwent. My first photo essay, which I showed at my interview, followed students through an academic year at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.

Fast-forward to 2024, and I have been entrusted with photographing the new RNC prospectus. It's been inspiring to see how much the college has evolved. The unwavering passion and dedication of the staff members are the same as ever, and the students remain the reason why the RNC is the UK's most prestigious college for people with visual impairments. This photography commission has brought back many happy memories, and just as I did in '89, I have enjoyed hearing the uplifting and powerful stories of those studying and working at this beautiful college.

I had an amazing time filming with Darren Gough MBE, former England cricket fast bowler and Strictly Come Dancing winner, discussing his role as the Ambassador for Gigaclear's Rural Sports Fund. It was a pleasure to be welcomed by everyone at the Woodford Halse Sports Club and enjoy a quintessential summer evening of cricket. The highlight for me was working with my son, Sol, who took a day off from his job at the BBC to come and help out. I can't wait to share the finished film soon!

My latest film is with Ellie Finch, who uses Minecraft as a therapeutic tool. Minecraft allows Ellie to work with children and young people in a place they feel comfortable: video games. Ellie's story is a perfect example of why I love documentary film and photography because it allows me to spend time with people like Ellie, who are so passionate about the work they do. I hope this film reaches professionals who could benefit from Ellie's work.
