Thirty-five years ago, I embarked on my journey to study at the world-renowned School of Documentary Photography in Newport, Gwent. My first photo essay, which I showed at my interview, followed students through an academic year at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford.
Fast-forward to 2024, and I have been entrusted with photographing the new RNC prospectus. It's been inspiring to see how much the college has evolved. The unwavering passion and dedication of the staff members are the same as ever, and the students remain the reason why the RNC is the UK's most prestigious college for people with visual impairments. This photography commission has brought back many happy memories, and just as I did in '89, I have enjoyed hearing the uplifting and powerful stories of those studying and working at this beautiful college.
