“There’s nothing better than beating boys while dressed as a turkey,” she said.
Though we bet that qualifying for the Olympics in your first marathon through two jobs, injuries, and a battle with disordered eating probably comes close.
Well done, Molly! 💪

"Feminamity: The warm glow you get when another woman hypes you up.

These moments of feminamity are not superficial. For me, they are radical moments of understanding and empowerment. Veiled in compliments is the same message over and over again: Keep going."

We still have a few spots left on our April 9 trip to the Cascades to summit Mt. Adams.

Chances are, one way or another, you're affected by breast cancer or MS. Maybe a friend or a loved one has battled the disease. Maybe you have. Not only are we fundraising for a cure and a cause very near and dear to us, but we're climbing in the name of our loved ones, our friends, and ourselves.

Join us. Details are at the link below -- the deadline to sign up is January 31.

Show up, speak up. Most importantly, trust yourself.

Show up, speak up. Most importantly, trust yourself.

The best thing a woman can do is trust her intuition and use her voice. ⁣

This was one of the biggest takeaways from my time mentoring Brooklyn Bell as we wandered windy Wasatch ridgelines and shared stories on the skintrack. ⁣

When women are empowered to speak up in the backcountry, their group is less likely to have an avalanche accident.⁣

This lesson extends beyond the mountains - when women lead in government, they enact more progressive climate policies, which also steers society away from disaster. ⁣

I encourage all the ladies to keep showing up and speaking up, whether it's in the boardroom or the backcountry. ⁣

Happy New Year, adventurers! What are your adventure goals for this year?
Alli here, founder of AdventurHER Travel. One of the things we did on our Rest & Renew trip in Costa Rica was goal setting for 2020. Some of my own goals for this year are to summit a mountain above 10k', find a trad climbing mentor, spend more nights in my tent this year than last year (number to beat is 34), and climb 30 pitches of ice (already 8 down!).
How can we help you meet your goals?

We're still stoked on the fun, introspection, community, and personal challenges of this yoga retreat we hosted with in Costa Rica. Though different from many of our trips (slightly slower pace, coed), it still met all our goals for an AdventurHER Travel experience: adventure, exploration, building bonds and friendships among strangers, and personal growth. We are so thrilled to have made 's retreat dreams come to life and we can't wait to help her build her next custom trip. ⁣

We hiked in the jungle, swam in waterfalls, learned to surf, harvested coffee and turmeric, seen sloths in rehab and in the wild, enrolled, practiced yoga, set goals for the new year and new decade, identified and meditated on our core values, asked ourselves hard questions, pushed ourselves in new experiences, and explored the beautiful country of Costa Rica.⁣

Thank you to for being our favorite adventure photographer, to .elysiana for all the work they put into helping us make this retreat as wonderful as it was, and to all our adventurers who joined us. ⁣

If you're interested in working with us to plan your own custom trip, give us a shout! We'd love to plan a trip for you and your students, an adventure vacation with your friends, a girls' trip, a bachelorette weekend, and more.⁣

Winter is here! We get a lot of questions about dressing warmly for cold-weather activities. Our favorite independent gear shop at home in Minnesota (where we're seeing a high of 7 degrees f today), Midwest Mountaineering, sent along a great 4 minute video on layering systems for different winter activities. Check it out, and let's go have some winter fun!

Do you have big mountain dreams? Our Women's Mountaineering 101 trip with Jodi's Climb For Hope is the place to start. We'll learn the proper use of ice axes and crampons, risk management on the mountain, snow awareness, altitude management, glissading, and mountain communication. If you want to start ticking off technical mountains, you don't want to pass up this training trip!

Because this is a charity climb with Climb for Hope, it's the most economical route into guided mountaineering -- and by raising money for breast cancer and MS research, you're participating in a big cause while you're realizing your big dreams.

We have 1 spot on our August 2 trip and 6 spots on our August 9 trip. Read more about this trip and register at www.adventurhertravel.com/climb-for-hope-adams.

Over the moon with this feature in Grit and Gear. Thanks Marie Malinowski for being an inspiration as a badass outdoors woman, for starting and running an amazing women-led outdoor gear publication, and thanks for this shoutout!

"Most outdoorswomen today were introduced to the outdoors and mentored by family or friends who were outdoorsy. But what happens when you don’t have that conduit? Founder, owner and guide extraordinaire of AdventureHER Travel Alli Neal set out to be that conduit. That mentor. The bridge, nudge or (gentle) kick in the rear to get women outdoors “capably, confidently, and comfortably.” Alli empowers women of all skill levels to camp, climb, surf, hike, bike, ski, SUP, you name it, all while ensuring women have a supportive environment to build outdoor skills and, really, just have fun–whether it’s a weekend ice climbing clinic in Winona, MN or climbing and canyoneering in Moab, UT, inn to inn cycling in Ireland or something completely customized for you."

This holiday season consider shopping for products for yourself or for others from these nine women-founded, women-led companies.

Hey y'all, it's Women Led Wednesday. Deals first, then sap, k? Head over to our website (link in bio) for $50 off any adventure today, automatically applied at checkout. Let's get after it together. ⁣

We're going to overuse the word amazing here. You've been warned. ⁣

At AdventurHER Travel, we have the privilege of being surrounded by amazing womxn all the time. We get to work with amazing womxn guides to bring amazing womxn out on amazing adventures with our amazing womxn staff. We have the privilege of getting to know you and providing space for you to push yourself and discover another, extra level of amazing you are. ⁣

We've had the privilege of watching each one of you on our adventures walk up to something that challenged and probably scared you a little bit, consider it for a moment, and say, "yeah, I got this." It's never easy, it's usually fun, and it's always empowering. It's a huge part of why we do what we do here. ⁣

The other reason is that the more womxn we have in outdoor adventure sports, the better they get. The industry grows, opportunity expands, gear gets better, the sports become smarter and safer, and the community becomes more inclusive. ⁣We have a lot more work to do, but we're getting it done together.

We're a womxn led business. It's not easy. But it sure as f is motivating.⁣

As a thank you for slaying, for allowing us to adventure with you, and for being amazing, we humbly offer $50 off all adventures today with no minimum. We can't wait to adventure with you. Get it, girl.⁣

(and yeah we'll own it: we totally thought WLW was next week 😂)⁣

It's national Take A Hike day! Are you hiking today? ⁣

This one is from our recent trip to Moab, Utah. We explored canyons big and small, rappelling and scrambling and drinking in the incredible desert views we had all to ourselves. It was truly awe-inspiring and so fun! We're still so proud of the women on this trip for being so daring and strong. ⁣

What's a hike that challenged you but left you feeling capable and impressed with yourself? ⁣

Our CEO got a chance to test this Deuter pack on this September's Backpacking 101 clinic on the Superior Hiking Trail and is looking forward to bringing it on future trips, including our Mountaineering 101 clinic on Mt. Adams next August. See what she has to say about this highly adjustable pack in this cheeky review!

This Deuter Aircontact Lite SL 60+10 is a highly adjustable and incredibly comfortable pack. A great pack for a beginner or a no-frills and streamlined pack for a more experienced trekker.

Beta Bust 2019 in the books! We had such an amazing time at Devils Lake State Park in Wisconsin with women climbers from all over the Midwest. We had MN, WI, IL, MI, and IA represented on this wildly fun weekend. Even though it poured on Saturday, we made the most of it by hiking in the rain and driving an hour to the closest climbing gym to get a few hours of climbing in! In spite of long drives, fall colds, lost voices, flooded bridges, and rained out clinics, this weekend showed how determined Midwesterners are to finding adventure and having fun in all weather. Thanks to everyone who braved the forecast and came out, and thanks Mollie for co-organizing! Can't wait to climb with you all again soon! @ Devil's Lake State Park

Coalition Snow with the real stuff.

Coalition Snow with the real stuff.

Every Thursday we send out our Lady Parts newsletter. For this week’s edition, we’re going to take some inspiration from .

This week the reality of Trump’s trade war with China hit us. It’s hard enough being a small business owner... These tariffs are devastating.

We value manufacturing in the US. We make some of our equipment here (Check out the La Nieve and Rafiki).

We also value offering our customers—you, our community—fair prices and holiday sales and a wide selection.

Trump may get what he wants—we might move all of our production to the US. But there will be a cost. We will be forced to raise prices and halt the growth of our business.

Before you jump in and tell us to suck it up and make all of our s**t in the US, ask yourself if you’re willing to pay hundreds and thousands more for what you enjoy today. (Also please look around your house and in your closets and in your garage and in general all around you at the things you own.)

If you answer is yes, please start convincing your fellow Americans because they have built a certain lifestyle based on the cheap cost of imported goods and the free flow of information and technology. And they certainly don’t like change.

The reality is we all will start paying more for the things we want. So now certain people will continue to have more, and others not so much. And that’s how we like to do it here in the US.

We’d really love to hear from you. What do you think we should do? Check the link in our story to share your thoughts with us.

Important reminders.

We face this all the time. We see it in our groups, our friends, ourselves.

Apologize only for things that really merit apologies. Otherwise, work to foster kindness to yourself. You deserve to take up space.

Mad props to the creator of this one. freetheself.com

I'm sad that so many people feel so affected by this meme. We all deserve better. Because we all ARE enough. More than enough. We are a part of the Divine. I hope that soon, every person on this thread can feel the truth of this. It may take practice, but it is possible. Just stop listening to voices that have an agenda other than your well-being.

This past weekend, we took a group of women backpacking for their first time. We did nearly 20 miles over three days on two sections of the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota. Though not as mountainous as some of the more famous long distance trails, the S*T still has some steep climbs, harsh descents, and tricky footing. These hikers pushed through some really tough moments on the trail and we are so proud of each of them for persevering!

Reflecting on last night's event with Rediscovering U. To protect the privacy of the attendees, we didn't take photos of the event, so here's dusk patrol instead. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Rediscovering U is a Minnesota-based non-profit that serves women approaching and experiencing divorce by providing community and classes on topics like financial independence, divorce law, career transitions, and more. We were lucky enough to be invited to lead a hike and present on the psychological and physical benefits of nature, outdoor adventure sports, novelty, and finding a new community of adventurous women within Minnesota. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Did you know that the prevailing science of the moment shows that even a short walk in nature can cause a significant reduction in the stress hormone cortisol and in negative feelings like anxiety? That it has been shown to reduce the effects of PTSD by up to 30%? That trying something new outdoors can improve memory function by up to 19%? There's a catch.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The best indicator for positive effects from spending time in nature is awe. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Just going for a hike won't do as much for you if you're not forcing yourself to be present and find awe in your surroundings. Maybe it's the way the light is coming through the trees. Maybe it's the ripples in the water or the grass while the breeze blows, or the way the dragonflies dance with each other above the cattails. Maybe it's the honeysuckle you can smell before you can see it. Maybe it's the sensation of cool air filling your lungs as you breathe deeply. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A good way to force presence in the outdoors is the five senses grounding exercise: 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We could all use a little nature therapy. Start finding awe in the outdoors as often as you're able. Find a community of outdoorsy, adventurous women. Learn a new adventure sport. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And if you're a woman in the Twin Cities going through divorce, check out Rediscovering U for support and resources. We all need a community to get through the hard stuff. ⁣
