Since its inception, Royal Road Tours and Recursos de Santa Fe have promoted responsibility toward indigenous cultures through seminars, study tours, and conferences. Simply put, we strive to promote an appreciation and understanding of the natural and cultural resources of our world without consuming or destroying them. Given how rapidly cultural diversity on Earth is vanishing, we all face an in
creasing challenge. Many cultures are in danger of being swallowed up by industrialized consumption-oriented societies. As increasing numbers of affluent, sophisticated tourists range further into remote areas, the indigenous groups they encounter typically are lured by material wealth, exploited and severed from their heritage. When tribal people abandon their traditions, our world culture is diminished. We lose their religions, their ancient stories, their knowledge about medicinal plants, their art. We lose precious alternatives that we might need and should cherish. We at Royal Road Tours have begun developing a network to explore solutions. By offering visitors a deeper understanding of the cultures they encounter, we hope to instill in them a new respect and appreciation. We invite you to join us in creating a revolutionized and more sensitive attitude toward travel and tourism. Our name, Royal Road Tours, was chosen because of the history of the Spanish Empire's royal roads, caminos reales in the New World. These royal roads, under the protection of the Spanish Crown, assured travelers a safe journey. The roads wound up hills and along rivers in the southwestern part of what was to become the United States, and Latin America. This romantic region is Royal Road Tours' area of specialization. Royal Road Tours is a division of Recursos de Santa Fe.
