Ancient Roman soldiers' bathhouse found in Jerusalem

First building ever uncovered from the 2nd century in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City: An 1800 year old Roman pool was uncovered in Jerusalem, during the excavations for a modern Mikvah (ritual bath) to be built in that place.

Israeli archaeologists have discovered an ancient Roman bathhouse that was probably used by the soldiers who destroyed the Second Temple in Jerusalem, the Israel Antiquities Authority announced Monday.

6th century mosaics found at Tel Shikmona, Israel

A 6th century mosaic was discovered during excavations currently underway to expand the Hecht Park in Haifa and transform Shikmona into a public archaeological park.

Researchers have found magnificent mosaics dating back to the Byzantine Period in the sixth century, while excavating at Tel Shikmona in Israel. The mosaics are thought to be part of an ecclesiastic structure.

Jerusalem was ranked #7 on Trip Advisor's list of the top travel destinations of the entire world for culture and sightseeing.

Other destinations on top 10 list include London, New York, Paris, Rome, Washington, as well as Florence, Venice, Istanbul and Siem Reap, Cambodia. Jerusalem ranked seventh.

Cleaning the water: A Palestinian and an Israeli scientist have been awarded a Mid East Regional Cooperation (MERC) USAID $650,000 grant for their joint water purification project.
