🌟 The holiday festivities are not quite over in France! Have you ever tried the French Galette des Rois - 'Kings Cake'? Usually shared on 6 January to celebrate Epiphany, the day the Three Kings visited the baby Jesus, it is eaten throughout January in France and sold in local patisseries.

The cake consists of almond cream between two layers of flaky, buttery puff pastry. It can also be made with frangipane filling (almond cream and pastry cream). Traditionally, a small charm, or fève (fava bean), is hidden inside, and whoever finds it becomes king or queen for the day, wearing a paper crown. These trinkets evolved into tiny porcelain and then plastic figurines and are collectors’ items.

If you are visiting Paris during January, we encourage you to stop by your local patisserie and tryout this delicious French tradition!

Bummed, i liked that place.

Unfortunately, we will be closing our Bushwick location permanently. With the pandemic cancelling our events and wedding business and the need to continue to social distance and limit capacity in the coming months, we felt it would not be possible for us to sustain the high operating costs.

The amount of love and sweat that went into building out our Bushwick space and in creating the cider house experience and atmosphere is immeasurable. We are so grateful to all of the people who helped to build the space, our contractor and design team and the incredible artists that breathed life into it. Our leadership team who made Brooklyn Cider House such a warm and unique place -- Santiago, Lamarr, Michael, Chang, Olivia, and Danny; the staff who were like family to us; and our loyal customers who ate and caught cider, threw parties and got married here -- we will miss you all so deeply!

We are sad about our Brooklyn closing, but we are hopeful about the future of Brooklyn Cider House at our farm in the Hudson Valley and beyond. Our ciders will still be available at retailers, restaurants, and bars throughout NY, NJ, PA, VA, and Washington DC. We will also continue to welcome you to our upstate cidery and farm, Twin Star Orchards in New Paltz, NY. We are open every Friday - Sunday for pizza, burgers and cider by the pond – as well as pickup and delivery. We have also launched an online store and you can purchase our ciders here for delivery in NY state: https://www.brooklynciderhouse.com/shop.

Thank you for all the love and support over the years and hope to see you at the farm this summer!

Much love,
Peter and Susan

People don’t seem to understand they are dealing with an insurance company.

This passenger put herself at risk by her own actions. If she or her friend had called Allianz and advised them of the situation they would have made arrangements, up to flying her with a medical team to a US hospital after learning she was in an inadequate facility.

The travel insurance company would also cover additional travel expenses incurred by her and her friend plus they could be compensated for expenses due to cutting their vacation short.

Show up looking sick and/or injured and the airline or ship can deny you boarding and then where would she be?

A good travel professional (me!) should be your 1st call in an emergency. I know people.

🤕😷🏝🏥This traveler had a truly harrowing experience in Mexico after she was hurt during her vacation. Now, a year later, she's still trying to get her travel insurance claim paid. Can we help? (Michelle Couch-Friedman)

I am a travel professional with over 25 years of experience not a “ travel consultant” who sells only one product for the company that signs my paycheck.

A cruise consultant's mistakes sent this couple all over NYC before they eventually missed the ship. Shouldn't the cruise line refund this fiasco? (Michelle Couch-Friedman)

Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 on their transatlantic crossings is the only cruise line that allows your pet to travel with you. In luxury accommodations.

Here is a photo provided to me by an advisor, Susan McDougal of Suzqz Travel. Her clients brought their 3 pups in the kennels. They were thrilled that it cost less than flying their four-legged friends and of course in more style😎
