Parc National Des Pyrénées-1 day - circular from ainsa.
Friday 23 June 2017 at 15:00 hours, with a suffocating heat we are heading towards ainsa (Aragon), more specifically to coscojuela de sobarbe, a most charming village located on the edge of the medium reservoir. We spent a hotel night with the intention of heading to the Pyrenees of good morning to cross into France through the tunnel.
Arrival time we rode on the bike, that is, free of luggage since we were back to sleep in the same place-it is appreciated to go light load by the curves -. We leave for ainsa to make the first refuelling; tunnel of Bielsa and direct exit to aranhoet after making an impressive drop in the north face. We found curves and a fresco that tarnishes our visor. We're already in France.
First Port Direction Sant Lari and alone to raise the col d ' Azet. It is not a port of the best known for motorcycles since its traffic is very scarce, but better known to cyclists. At the beginning of the tour it takes place by small towns and green fields which are a craving for our view. The road is fast and it's coming to the top.
Cima Del Col D ' azet - val louron
We found a drop of the most fun, closed curves and cows in the middle of the road taking the sun-they were already there -; going on with the boxer motor in ear and - they must say, another one over here !-.
We arrived at genos to go address direction, followed the route with the intention of going to the classic col du tourmalent, not before climbing the col d ' Aspin from arreu.
Areu - Col Aspin-Col du tourmalet
Arreu is a town that is very known by bikers, it is the largest town and the minimum catering services: Gas Station, Bank-which one can't have anywhere else in the enclave -. many take advantage to refuel and catch Some strength in your bars or restaurants. In France and the food is served early, at 12, in summer they make some exceptions and you can eat later, but it is not the usual.
Col D ' Aspin, 12 km with good firm and wide spaces on the road to advance cyclists and some lazy caravan. On Top, photo of rigor to go down to Sainte Marie de campan. At this point it begins the mythical col du tourmalet, raised by the slope of the mongie (16,5 km of intense traffic), remember that we are in summer and the whole world of that area does not pass long without climbing the port.
At the top the hard thing is to park the bike and the harder it is to be able to take a picture with the background cyclist without any car, bike or bike going on. The Mounts of other countries abound, it is nice to see motorcycle travelers from other places.
Col Du Tourmalet-2115 m
We had a coffee at the top bar. The Decoration is the most picturesque and different; the price is also, but it is already known.
At approximately noon, we still have the col du soulor, the col d ' Aubisque, the col du portalet and the port of coll de cotefablo. Down the tourmalet direction lorda in argelès de gazost we take direction val d ' Azun. The good of leaving behind the mythical port is that traffic decreases and one can go to its air on the road.
We climbed the col du soulor to go to the other mythical of the Pyrenees, the aubisque. We stopped taking a picture of rigor at the top.
Col du soulour
Towards the aubisque the stretch is very picturesque, as the road stays on the top of the mountain range and gives us a magnificent view from both sides.
Coming down we stopped in a way out of a bend to rest and show the fantastic views of the north face. The road is very narrow, with tunnels of closed angles and the cliff very close.
Col du soulour hacia col d ' Aubisque
Arriving at the top of the aubisque we tried to get a picture on the post, but this time it was impossible. The bikes filled the ditches and on the other side, where the statues of the cyclists, there was a stand of a mountain race. Pity, the place promised a good memory.
Direction Laruntz to upload the portalet we found an intense upload traffic that made the port very close. There are dozens of food houses, liquor, to***co, but in Spanish territory and the French are taking advantage of the fact that their existing legislation restricts and increases prices.
Col du portalet
Formigal, known for the "Formigal Motorrad days", is where we make the second refuelling. At this point we direction ainsa passing through the port of cotefablo, a long port, fast and with little traffic. Down to the town of prosecutor to boltaña and finally arrived at ainsa.
The route is circular and occupy all day, leaving at 8:00 pm in the morning we arrive at 18:00 pm, stopping in places of interest to take pictures, drop your legs and take 45 minutes to eat. In General, the asphalt is good throughout the course, you need to be vigilant with the cyclists and especially with the nervous drivers who advance in curves without visibility. It should take some food or water in the suitcases to stop and refresh your breath. Summer is the best time to roll for these green and fresh valleys.
