Who’s this? Well these are your hosts, Kate (me) and Elsie (the small one)
You might see us when you check in at the shepherds hut if we are around, Elsie might be watering the plants and inspecting the garden, whilst I get everything else ship shape and perfect for your stay.
I just thought it would be nice for you to know who we are, real people doing everything we can to make your stay as memorable and amazing as possible 💗

I don’t think there was anyone last night that didn’t see this, but just imagine being laid in the outdoor goddess bath whilst the northern lights dance above you! 😃
And even if you aren’t lucky enough to be graced by them during your stay, it’s absolutely epic stargazing from the bath 🛁

Ooooh Autumn has arrived and we’ve seen some shocking weather over the last few days! I’ve had my log burner lit at home (pictured) to stay warm.

At The Shepherds Retreat you don’t need to worry about being cold! You’ll be so toasty and warm too- there’s a log burner in the cabin and it’s fully insulated using British sheep wool insulation!

It was such a gorgeous morning down at the hut today - you could see the fog bank from my house and when I arrived it was just so pretty, the cobwebs dripping with dew and the sun breaking through. Spectacular 💗

Finally our turn to stay here! Such a shame it’s so windy so we won’t be lighting the fire pit or going in the bath 😢 BUT we’ve downloaded films onto the iPad, got plenty of books to read and everything’s cosy and perfect 💗

Wow what a relaxing afternoon! We went to North Yorkshire Water Park and floated about a bit on the pedalos. I can’t believe how much there is to do there now, it’s certainly expanded over the last few years and is really popular - lots of people enjoying the day. How lucky we are to have such a fab place right on our doorstep!

I love to see the sunrise - it doesn’t happen for me very often because I’m asleep! I’d highly recommend setting your alarm early down at The Shepherds Retreat, walking outside barefoot with a cup of fresh coffee and sit on the bench and watch the sun come up. Even if you only do it once in your life, you won’t regret welcoming the new day in 💗

Enjoy a concert for no charge! A beautiful park and lots to do there too - we love a ride in the dragon boats!

We’ve nipped out to Hunmanby Gap for a quick go on the beach this aft! It’s so nice and clean and not too peopley! Hunmanby gap is about a 10-15min drive from the Shepherd’s hut and the car park is £1 per hour. There’s also a cafe and some toilets too! 💗

Are you an English Heritage member? Scarborough castle is included in your membership so it’s a great opportunity to visit whilst you’re staying at The Shepherd’s Retreat! Wow it’s such a gorgeous day near Scarborough today! Definitely the right weather to be enjoying the outdoor goddess bath!
There’s limited availability left for July, book a 2 night mid week break for £150, saving a massive £68 on direct booking prices and even more on Airbnb prices!! 😮

Meet your hosts! So here’s a little snapshot into our lives… I’m Kate, married to James and mum to Elsie. (The 3 older kids are too cool to be mentioned on social media)
We live nearby a couple of miles up the road on the edge of Scarborough on our farm.
I spend my time running a children’s business - Harminis, and also supporting farmer on the farm when needed.
We like to take time out and go for a little walk (not too far!) and spend time outdoors in our beautiful countryside.

Elsie full on swam in the sea yesterday instead of paddling - not something I’m brave enough to do, a shark might eat me…
Are you a sea swimmer?!
We are only a few miles from the beaches, imagine getting up with the sunrise down at the hut then heading to the beach for a early morning dip in the sea!
