TIKIFIT TIP:
Use BCAAs to Preserve Muscle

To help maintain and grow muscle, take 5-10 grams of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) with breakfast as well as before and after training. Ingested preworkout, BCAAs are used by the body as a substitute fuel source so it doesn’t tap into stored muscle protein to get through a session. Also, if you’re going low-carb, BCAAs can better trigger protein synthesis.

TIP: HOW TO GET A BETTER SLEEP

One simple thing you can do to sleep better is lower the thermostat.

The ideal temperature for sleep is around 20 degrees celsius (68 degrees fahrenheit). If you're having trouble sleeping, try dropping it down to about 18 degrees (65 fahrenheit).

If you don't have a thermostat in your house/room, it could be as simple as leaving a window open or the bedroom door open a touch. Maybe your duvet cover is too thick or your underlay too warm? Experiment and see how you go :).

RECIPE: Paleo Pad Thai!

Who said that takeaway style food had to be unhealthy?

2 cucumbers and/or 1 cup kelp noodles
1 small carrot
Large handful bean sprouts
Handful baby spinach leaves
1 red capsicum, finely sliced
2 spring onions, chopped
1/2 red chili (optional)
2 bunches coriander chopped
Your choice of protein (eg chicken, prawns, beef)

Dressing
Juice from 1 lime
1 teaspoon fresh grated fresh ginger
2 teaspoons tamari sauce or liquid aminos
2 teaspoons raw honey (or coconut nectar)
2 tablespoons tahini or raw almond butter
A little chilli if you want some heat

Use a vegetable peeler or mandolin to slice all the vegetables into long noodle like strips. Combine all the ingredients then place into a large serving bowl.
Cook your choice of protein.
Blend or mix together the dressing and combine some of it with the protein. Combine veges and protein and pour remainder of dressing over the salad just before eating. Voila!

RECIPE: Look out! Chocolate dipped cookie dough truffles. Full of good fats and low in sugar.

2 1/2 cups almond flour
3 Tbs coconut flour
8 Tbs grass-fed, organic butter
1/3 cup raw honey (I substituted with coconut nectar so less fructose)
1 Tbs vanilla
1/4 tsp sea salt
1 - 2 cups of 85% dark organic chocolate chopped roughly as 'choc chips'
Plus more 85% dark chocolate for dipping (optional)

Allow butter to soften. Combine butter, honey and vanilla. Cream with a mixer or manually (I did manually with a spoon and it was fine).
Once smooth stir in almond flour one cup at a time.
Add coconut flour one tablespoon at a time (you may need more if your mixture is too sticky, up to you).
Add salt and choc chips.
Line a tray with baking paper. Form dough into balls about one tablespoon big and set on tray in fridge for minimum of 30mins.
Dip in melted chocolate (I just melted in microwave 30 secs at a time) and further refrigerate OR skip the chocolate and roll them in shredded coconut.

SO GOOD!
