My clients are never surprised but always pleased when I find resorts/hotels that aren’t on their radar but check all of the boxes.

This comes from almost 6 years of planning safaris, honeymoons, solo trips, small group trips etc.., countless certifications, hundreds of site visits, and 20+ years of trips to destinations to experience them for myself.

And there are a few other things I do to make sure clients are satisfied with the places they stay — because there’s truly nothing worse than having a trip de-railed by a bad hotel experience because a client booked it themselves based on some TA reviews or your uncle Bob's holiday...

1️⃣ I get to know what your travel preferences are, what you like, what’s top priority when you travel, etc.

2️⃣ I take note of the resorts you’ve loved in the past and the resorts you haven’t loved so much — this gives me a great place to start.

3️⃣ I stay up-to-date on new resort and hotel openings in the destinations I specialize in and I’m constantly taking notes when properties open that fits client needs. When they’re ready to travel, I already have a list started.

‘South Africa is an intensely beautiful and deeply complicated place. She is a country whose name evokes starry eyes from all who have known her well- even those who left her a long time ago. She is a siren and a muse. A giver and taker in equal measure. She contains multitudes within her deserts, mountains, velds, and empty spaces. She is a rainbow nation and welcomes everyone. She was my first ‘home’ and her soul is part of my marrow. She is beauty personified. She is waiting for your visit- and I cannot wait to show you my South Africa.’
- My love letter to South Africa up on our newsletter out today.

‘There is, I have heard, a little thing called sunrise, in which the sun reverses the process we all viewed the night before. You might assume such a thing as mythical as those beasts that guard the corners of the earth, but I have it on the finest authority, and have, indeed, from time to time, regarded it with my own eyes…’
- L Willig
The only way you’ll ever convince me to get up to see the sunrise is when I’m on safari. Only when I’m deep, deep in the African bush somewhere with coffee brewing over an open flame. And when I’m here, time and space disappear altogether.

Did you know the average person spends over 200 hours a year daydreaming about their next trip?
That’s like almost 24+ work days (don’t worry, we won’t tell your boss…). Then, IF they get beyond the day dream to actually make that trip a reality they spend, on average, an additional 40+ hours planning that trip?
On top of that, about 70% of people get their travel reccos from family and friends- which can be great, but do you really trust your Uncle Bob’s taste in beach hotels (hello, all inclusives 🤢 ).
A good travel designer can help make that dream a reality, can cut through all the bu****it and give you that precious time back to daydream about something else, like puppies, unlikely animal friendships, or maybe your dream job.
Curious about how we can help plan your next, great adventure? We’re always here just an email away.

After two devastating earthquakes (and reportedly over 100 aftershocks) in southeast Turkey and northern Syria, we know the situation that was already dire, has become increasingly so. Many of you have asked us if we know how to best help fund recovery efforts. Direct giving to many global humanitarian agencies is always needed, but here are some that we have worked with in the past; either directly or indirectly, doing important work in the region.

Hello- there’s a lot of new faces here so I wanted to (re)introduce myself…
Did anyone else just throw up in their mouth a little?
I know I’m supposed to do that post where I talk about myself in an informative way while infusing some pithy fun facts… but that just feels so forced to me. But I’m the one steering this ship, so I guess you probably should know more about who I am.
TL;DR I’m Jen, a reformed epidemiologist and humanitarian aid professional, a classic pianist and aspiring cajun fiddler, an irreverent map maker, a reluctant birder, an avid cocktail maker, an even more avid cocktail drinker, a ferocious animal lover, a passionate amateur safari guide, a climber of volcanoes, an obsessive explorer, and avid linguist. I have strong opinions about most things, but especially fonts, your choice of shoes, color palettes, music, and people’s lack of self-awareness. And furthermore, you can pry that Oxford comma and my ‘go-cup’ out of my cold, dead hands…
For almost two decades prior to starting my company, I worked all over Africa. Where in Africa you (always) ask? Well, I haven’t been to Central African Republic, Mauritania, or Somalia… yet. I speak Swahili near-fluently and a few others modestly.
After many years and many projects I decided to call my former career quits. Too much bureaucracy, not enough progress. I still wanted to work to try to make the world a better place, I just didn’t want to do it with all that other stuff in the way. Enter travel- I knew that bringing in tourism dollars strategically could literally transform communities, whilst simultaneously preserving wild places. So here I am, trying to make your vaca dollars count. Luckily after almost 20 years in the field I know better than most how to make those dollars have an impact. Whether you like it or not, that’s what I’m doing. As a constant seeker of knowledge and tester of experiences, I’m always combing the world for the best of the best, but particularly beautiful places that most people don’t know even exist. I pass that on to you all, because, well first off I’m a giver, and some of my favorite parts of the world need your tourism dollars. -xo Jen

We’re currently in honeymoon planning season over here. One of our favorites is a honeymoon for a super sweet couple traveling to Lake Como and Sardinia in 2023.
Here's why it's going to be a gorgeous trip for them…
We wanted to craft a honeymoon that would allow them to experience a sense of place by doing a little bit of ‘slow travel’. We also wanted to make sure we were steering them little bit away from the well-worn touristy bits.
Their itinerary combines a mixture of ancient and modern, of nature and culture, and beaches (lots of beaches) and mountains. Enough to keep them busy exploring new places with some solid time for relaxation. We imagine they’ll probably have some amazing food while they’re there too. 🍝 🍷 🇮🇹

I want to know: what places are on YOUR list? Where are you dreaming of visiting in 2023?

GLOBE + TRIBE: for the Modern Explorer

We started our travel design agency after 15 years of exploring, working and living in some of the most beautiful and remote countries in the world. As travelers and adventurers we have learned the ins and outs of what makes an adventure unique and life-changing. We are using our experience and contacts with some of the best luxury and remote destination lodges and tour operators to share and showcase these amazing places, while both championing sustainability in our partners and bringing well-needed tourism dollars to places who rely on eco-tourism. We can help you plan a classic African safari in the Serengeti, of course, but we specialize in crafting travel experiences in frontier and ‘up & coming’ destinations around the globe. Think fly fishing in Mongolia on Monday, falconry on Wednesday, and hopping the Trans-Mongolian railroad on Friday... Think fly safari camping in a remote riverbed with Negronis around a campfire on Tuesday, hopping a flight to Lake Kivu to go paddleboarding on Friday and riding the luxury train to Mombasa on Sunday... Tell us your dream trip and we will make it happen! Or tell us what you LOVE to do and we’ll find the coolest place for you to do it.
