HONORING MOTHER LEAH
The Ohel Leah synagogue in Hong Kong has been standing for over 120 years that will be celebrated this early March by its vibrant Jewish community. Its original name was given by its early founders , the three grandsons of David Sassoon, who were some of the early Sephardic leaders in the Jewish community.
As customary in many Jewish temples and other institutions, they requested to honor their mother Leah by putting her name as the name of the new synagogue, a legacy that stays alive after well over a century.
