🌾MIKE’S MUST HAVES🌾

Episode 7 of Mike’s Must Haves: “July Edition”

1. ‘Magnus Echinacea’ - this is a native plant that comes in lots of colors, and has a glowing seed head that birds love in the fall. It grows quite tall (as the name suggests!) and will add height and color to your garden.

2. ‘Butterfly Bush’ - this is a beautiful flowering plant with a wonderful fragrance. Overtime this perennial has become pretty hardy, and is easy to trim to get even more flowers.

3. ‘Panicle Hydrangeas’ - this plant has cone shape flowers that come in a variety of colors, and are extremely hardy and easy to care for, making them a reliable flowering plant.

4. ‘Culver’s Root’ - this is a tall, hardy perennial that the bees just love. It grows lots of branches and flourishes in the sun.

5. ‘Panicum’ - this grass has a great root system, making it excellent for holding bankings in place. Birds love the seed pods and will feed on them all through the fall and even winter!

Pocket Boutonnieres! Have you heard of them or seen them at an event? Also called floral pocket squares, or pocket square boutonnieres, they offer an opportunity to create designs with a wider range of floral material, to play with textures, and they just look so good. These were all designed by Erin at our Falmouth location.

☀️MIKE’S MUST HAVES☀️

Episode 6 of Mike’s Must Haves: “Summer Edition”
1. ‘Heuchera’ - aka Coral Bells, is a hardy plant that can grow almost anywhere, with flowers that grow on a long stem, and beautiful foliage that lasts all season long.
2. ‘Penstemon’ - this is a durable perennial that grows tubular flowers and comes in a wide variety of colors that really pop and add height to your garden.
3. ‘Spirea’ - this plant is an oldie but a goodie that comes in a variety of colors and smells amazing! It’s also an incredibly reliable plant for the Maine landscape.

This native Coneflower/Echinacea has fragrant pale pink to pale purple flowers, narrow petals, and is packed with seeds for local birds. Butterflies and humming birds love it. It grows well in hot, dry conditions and is great in meadows and perennial borders.
