Today MS Maud hit the pinnacle of our West Greenland journey at the beautiful Uummannaq! We've been basking in glorious sunshine and surrounded by majestic icebergs, and we even had the chance to join guest scientist, Dr. Tomasz Ciesielski, on a fishing trip - collecting samples to study persistent chemicals in the arctic marine environment!

Here on MS Maud we are currently journeying northwards towards Iceland!
On Sunday our voyage took us to the enchanting Fair Isle, a gem nestled between the Orkneys and Shetland, where we had an unforgettable day!

We were greeted by the island’s charming residents - the puffins! And spent the day exploring the island, from hiking science boat trips. But we have to admit, the heart of Fair Isle is its warm and welcoming community....We were touched by their hospitality as they welcomed us with a huge array of delicious homemade cakes - a welcome treat after our adventures from the day!

Today is the national constitution day of Norway - here on MS Maud we celebrated from Waterford, Ireland with ice cream, waffles, and a fantastic cake from our Head Chef and galley team - with Captain Marius doing us the honour of cutting the cake!

We’re thrilled to announce that our beloved ship, MS Maud, is back in action!

The resilience of our fantastic crew and the enthusiasm of our wonderful guests have made the first two voyages of 2024 nothing short of spectacular!

We’ve been lucky enough to see marine mammals and seabirds, and visited some truly incredible locations like Kirkwall, Isles of Scilly, Barra, and Belfast.
From kayaking around the Scottish Isles, exploring neolithic villages, savouring the finest whiskeys, and doing our part in cleaning up beaches, we’re truly off to an exciting start.

Watch this space, and join us as we set sail for more unforgettable adventures!

Weighing in at a whopping 972,000 square kilometres, North East Greenland National Park is the largest national park on the planet. Today we explored a small corner of this natural wonder, basked in a golden morning light. A massive musk ox greeted us as we prepared the landing site but not all guests made it ashore before a large polar bear decided to “ruin our fun”. Spotted kilometres from our operation, we had plenty of time to safely evacuate and enjoy the view from the comfort of MS Maud’s outer decks. 🎬: Kevin Snair #hurtigrutenexpeditions #msmaud
