"The best way to see the Giant's Causeway"

"The reason you come to Ireland"....

Just some of the reviews from people who choose 'Away A Wee Walk' for guided scenic walking tours and vacations. Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, our main day tour is the full day Giant's Causeway tour from Belfast which includes a stunning hike along some of the best cliff top views in Europe. We also guide peopl

e at the Cavehill over Belfast and in the Mourne Mountains. In addition we also organise bespoke guided walking and sightseeing vacations for groups. The company was set up by Eimear Flanagan who walked the 500 mile (800k) Camino de Santiago, in Spain, in spring 2012. A year later Eimear was inspired to highlight the best hiking locations in her native Northern Ireland for the influx of visitors seeking an authentic experience in the Irish landscape.

I wish you Christmas…. 🎄

That’s the laptop closed until 2025.

📸 Earlier in December the ‘Away A Wee Walk’ guide team enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner in the beautiful Bushmills Inn.

📸 I joined my fellow tour guides for a fabulous lunch in Miso.

📸 Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council pulled off another Enchanted evening in their stunning Antrim Castle Gardens….

📸 A personal festive favourite. The most Christmas pic ever. Taken back in 2013. My late Mum, Pauline, with her great granddaughter.

My Mum’s 9th anniversary was on 16th December - the date now begins the Christmas season for me. She loved Christmas. I love that we collectively take our lead from nature. That we rest and hibernate for the last 2 weeks of the year…. As we watch the turning of the light and welcome the new.

I wish you and yours - Christmas 🎄

Not just for the summer months. Dutch guests, Hans and Maaike enjoyed an amazing weekend recently hiking from Portstewart to Bushmills and onward to Ballintoy the next day. Catching surfers, whiskey and rainbows along the way. 🏄‍♀️🥃🌈 Check out our self guided walking holidays on the Causeway Coast and Glens.

Last week at the ITOA event. The travel industry work hard year round…. It’s just very different work in the winter months.

It’s always great to network with industry colleagues.

More to come this week at the Ireland's Association for Adventure Tourism annual conference in Killarney!

And the trade shows continue!💼

Last week, Bookings and Sales Coordinator, Susan attended the annual Northern Ireland ITOA Workshop in The Everglades Hotel in Derry-Londonderry!

The Irish Tour Operator Association collaborates closely with over 130 Irish Tour Operators and Destination Management Companies, making the ITOA Workshop an ideal platform for members to network and interact with a range of local tourism businesses🤝

This was a great opportunity for Susan to showcase what the Giant's Causeway and our neighbouring property, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge - National Trust, alongside our range of Signature Experiences, carried out in collaboration with Away A Wee Walk, Dalriada Kingdom Tours, Bushmills Irish Whiskey and Aquaholics🤩

As always, a GIANT thank you to Tourism Northern Ireland for this opportunity💚

WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024💫

World Tourism Day is a global event dedicated to celebrating the significance of tourism in promoting cultural exchange, economic development and international understanding🫶

At the Giant's Causeway, we are so proud of all of our partners, like Tourism Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland and Visit Causeway Coast and Glens, as well as all the local businesses, including Away A Wee Walk, Dalriada Kingdom Tours, Bushmills Irish Whiskey and Aquaholics, who help us not only to attract visitors from all over the world, but also give them a first-class, GIANT welcome💚

We'd also like to express thanks to our committed, hard-working staff and volunteers as they strive day-in and day-out to ensure that our visitors have an enjoyable, unforgettable experience👏

This morning, Senior Marketing and Communications Officer, Jennifer and Experience and Visitor Programming Assistant, Georgia met with Dr Peter Bolan, a Senior Lecturer and Course Director for the International Travel and Tourism Management (ITTM) course at Ulster University🤝

There are lots of amazing things about the Clifftop Experience at the Giant’s Causeway but climbing DOWN 162 Shepherd’s Steps near the end of a stunning 5 mile cliff hike in the knowledge that you DO NOT have to climb back up them is right up there with the best of it… 🙌🙌🙌🤩🤩🤩😜🥾🥾

And now look who’s 11. 🎉🥾🥾🎉🤩

Just incredible to be in our 12th season of showcasing the stunning Causeway Coast to our guests from around the world. ☘️

I can’t quite believe it at times. It’s such a privilege.

Massive thanks to everyone for all your support. The travel and hospitality trade, the tourism boards, my fellow adventure tourism colleagues and fellow tour guides, drivers etc. 🙌🙌🙌

And thanks too to our customers, friends and family for all your support.

Finally, I simply couldn’t run the number of tours today without the passion, dedication and commitment of a super team of guides - to Paul, Gavin, Rozzy and Michael ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ THANK YOU …. I think we have a combined 43 seasons guiding between us!!!!

We love it ☘️

What a way to convey scale at the Giant’s Organ near the end of our Clifftop Experience.

The Clifftop experience involves approaching the Causeway stones from the opposite direction as everyone else. We reach the Organ after descending the 162 Shepherd’s Steps but before reaching the main site at the Grand Causeway at the end of the cliff hike.

Book the Clifftop Experience via the link in our bio or directly on the Giant’s Causeway National Trust website.

A lovely wee shout out today from the National Trust The Giant's Causeway. We’ve been enjoying the company of a pod of dolphins this week too…. 🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬

Do you plan to visit the Giant's Causeway this Summer, but you're looking for something a little bit different?🤔Look no further than our partners at Away A Wee Walk!

We think it's about time we put a face to the name behind the operations - meet Eimear!👋

Living in the desert heat of the Middle East made Eimear miss the breath-taking scenery and green grass of home💚

With a keen interest in the growing tourism in Northern Ireland, Eimear was inspired to showcase one of the most scenic sections of the Causeway Coast. From happy childhood memories swimming in the Dunseverick rockpools, Eimear knew that the cliffs to the east of the Causeway stones were exceptionally beautiful, but often missed by visitors.

Now in it's 11th season, Away A Wee Walk offers fully-guided, 5-mile hiking experiences from Dunseverick Castle, along the stunning Causeway cliffs and finishing off on the world-famous stones! Tours depart daily during March - October at 11:15am from within the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre🚶‍♀️

If you'd like to experience the Giant's Causeway like never before, with rarely seen views that are sure to leave you speechless, head over to our website to find out more👉https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/northern-ireland/giants-causeway/giants-causeway-clifftop-experience

Please ensure to pre-book well in advance to allow the team to prepare for your arrival☺️
