I had the absolute joy of visiting ABarA ranch in Wyoming yesterday when they are closed for the season to drop off this piece and a few others. What a joy!! How fun to remember when horses fill the pasture in the summer 😊

One more huge platter for A Bar A Guest Ranch out of the kiln today before I drive to Wyoming to drop a few pieces off. This is the beautiful vista from the main area of the ranch where the horses go to pasture a couple of times a week and the view is magical.

A process photo today. I always fire my work in the kiln once after painting the image with underglaze and then a second time after applying clear glaze. This is the clear glaze phase using my nifty new airbrush machine that does a beautiful job of cutting down the time of having to paint it on and a producing an even coat.

Out of the kiln this morning, a large 19” platter for A Bar A Guest Ranch I used a photograph of mine from a special hike at the ranch. One direction is a view of the entire ranch and the opposite is this landscape towards the entrance way in the distance. The horses are from photos that took while on horseback.

I have begun creating pieces for a special ranch in Wyoming that is a personally meaningful place to me. I am painting a number of pieces all from photographs that I have taken there over 11 years of visiting. I am honored to be a visiting artist this September and will have work there available all summer. This large platter features some resting horses at the top of a mountain where a special dinner is held towards the end of the trip every year.

Out of the kiln this morning, (I promise it has the right date 😉). This is a commissioned 16” platter for a wedding gift. The design on the rim is based on a lovely toile design that the bride created incorporating special locations and wedding details. I used only .underglaze for the first time and I am thrilled with the detail and color that did so well through two firings.
