Did you know Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, designed his own tartan known as the Balmoral which dates from 1853. It featured grey, red and black and the twisted black and white yarns are said to be reminiscent of the granite seen in Aberdeenshire’s Royal Deeside, where Balmoral is located.
