QATAR AIRWAYS TO RESUME DAVAO FLIGHTS IN APRIL 2023

Qatar Airways has recently announced that it will resume flights to Davao from Doha, with the service starting on April 1, 2023. The airline last served the city in 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Davao will be the airline's fourth destination in the Philippines, after Manila, Clark, and Cebu.

The resumption of flights to Davao was revealed at the ITB Berlin 2023, the world's largest international travel and tourism trade show.

Qatar Airways also unveiled plans to add seven new destinations to its global route network this year, including Chittagong, Juba, Kinshasa, Lyon, Medan, Toulouse, and Trabzon.

Additionally, the airline will resume flights to 11 international destinations, namely Beijing, Birmingham, Buenos Aires, Casablanca, Davao, Marrakesh, Nice, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tokyo Haneda.

The triangular Doha-Cebu-Davao flight will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and will fly every Saturday.

Flight QR-936 will depart from Doha at 3:05 AM local time and arrive in Cebu at 5:55 PM local time. After a 90-minute stopover in Cebu, it will depart at 7:25 PM local time and land in Davao at 8:30 PM local time. The final leg of the flight will depart from Davao at 10:30 PM local time and arrive in Doha at 3:55 AM local time.

It's worth noting that Qatar Airways launched weekly flights to Davao on June 18, 2019, but operated via Clark back then. The airline's decision to resume direct flights to Davao indicates its confidence in the city's economic potential and its commitment to providing more travel options for passengers.

Since the interruption of the operations of the Air Traffic Management Centre (ATMC) of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Department of Tourism (DOT) has activated its ground tourism personnel in the various airports throughout the Philippines to assist affected travelers requesting assistance, as directed by Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco.

The DOT staff stationed at the airports continue to provide information and assistance to tourists. At the same time, tourists are also advised to constantly monitor updates primarily on their flight schedules through the official social media platforms and websites of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and airlines.

The DOT, together with its regional offices, have been in close coordination with the concerned local government units, stakeholders, and other relevant offices in monitoring the situation of tourists across the country who are affected by flight diversions, delays, or cancellations.

For assistance, travelers may approach a DOT designated helpdesk or send a message at the verified social media pages of the tourism department to report a tourism-related issue.

CEBU PACIFIC RESUMES DAVAO TO BACOLOD, CdeO FLIGHTS
Ramps up VisMin flight network by 35%

The Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific, strengthens its footprint in the Visayas and Mindanao as it adds more flights from its Davao and Cebu hubs effective November 2022. This totals a 35% increase in the airline’s non-Manila flight network.

On October 30 and 31 respectively, CEB will be resuming its direct flights from Davao to Cagayan de Oro and Bacolod, allowing Juans in Mindanao to connect easily to more places across the country.

Davao-Bacolod will be operating 3x weekly, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday; while Davao-Cagayan de Oro will be at 4x weekly, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.

These additional flights bring the total number of domestic connections from Davao to seven (7), which includes direct flights to Bohol, Cebu, Iloilo, Manila, and Zamboanga.

The airline will also be restarting its first international flight from Davao on October 30 as it will fly passengers direct to Singapore. CEB is the first local airline to bring back direct international operations in Davao.

CEB also continues to boost its connections from its Cebu hub as it expects to add more flights to key domestic destinations in November. This includes flights to Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, General Santos, and Puerto Princesa, among others.

CEB currently flies direct to 22 domestic destinations from Cebu, and two (2) international, namely Singapore and Seoul (Incheon).

CEBU PACIFIC RESTORES INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS FROM DAVAO

THE Philippines’ leading airline, Cebu Pacific (CEB), continues to beef up its regional footprint as it announces the resumption of its international operations in its Davao hub, starting with direct flights to Singapore. CEB is the first local carrier to restart international flights from Davao since the pandemic.

On October 30, 2022, CEB will begin operating three times a week from Davao to Singapore, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Flight 5J 715 is scheduled to depart Francisco Bangoy International Airport at 5:15 p.m., and is set to arrive at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 at 9:10 p.m. Its return flight, 5J 716, is scheduled to leave Singapore at 9:55 p.m., and is estimated to arrive in Davao at1:40 a.m. the next day.

This is the first international route that the airline is restarting from Davao, in line with its move to expand hubs outside Metro Manila.

“We are very excited to bring back this route as we know passengers in Mindanao have been waiting for more affordable and convenient flight options to fly abroad. Now that we’ve strengthened our operations from Manila, it’s time we move forward to growing our regional hubs as we work toward restoring 100% of our pre-pandemic capacity in the coming months,” said Xander Lao, CEB Chief Commercial Officer.

Fully vaccinated guests entering Singapore are not required to submit a pre-departure COVID-19 test and are not required to undergo quarantine upon arrival.

They must instead present their proof of full vaccination (VaxCertPH or BOQ Yellow Card), and fill out a Singapore Arrival card three days before arrival.
