Unlike the previous year when torrential rain storms were common weekly. We have not had any rain in quite some time this summer but I was able to capture some lightning happening 60 miles west this past evening. Always enjoyable from a distance.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you love your job you never work a day in your life. You may have heard this in life. This is how lucky I am. Sharing my knowledge, patience and encouragement is by far my favorite part of this job/life. Sam and I enjoyed an unbelievably calm cool morning on , taking in the views, learning about movement and making some all time memories. Thank you Sam! Where is the edge of your comfort zone?

Making it happen with a summer breeze. The temperatures in the desert have increased considerably as the days go on. Today was a lovely 107. Always make sure to have more then enough water with you when on an excursion, hike, drive. You will feel all that much better staying hydrated and letting your body recover in the shade. The desert heat is not to be messed with. Fact!

*Get an early Start
*Hike shady canyons
*Hike canyons with water
*Get a late start
*Keep your camelback in the fridge until you leave for your outing.
*Hydrate night before and first thing in the morning.
*Book a tour and let us find the best way to enjoy these summer days.

For the past 17 years, the owner of Windgate, Eric Odenthal, has been adding new routes to our local areas to open up the realm of possibilities. Being a first ascentionist takes a creative mindset, knowledge of bolting and route cleaning for safety. We make sure to find the routes that work well for you and your family/group. It’s fun to push your limits but also exciting to learn the basics to make every outing safe and enjoyable. Thank you all for making it happen and for bringing the motivation.

Introduction time: Hello! Ola! Bom dia! Bonjour! Xin chào! Eric Odenthal here, I’m the owner and lead guide of Windgate Adventures. Over the past 16 years since moving to Moab my life has taken me to many incredible places in the desert and around the world to climb and enjoy adventures and wild experiences. The passion doesn’t stop with climbing, I also obsess with trail running with and cycling. Life with fitness makes each day better in my opinion.
