Trinidad Retreats is looking for experienced, dependable housekeepers with flexible schedules to join our team. Trinidad Retreats has been a solid, family owned local company managing pristine vacation homes for over 20 years. Looking for hardworking people, ready to roll their sleeves up and maintain housekeeping for 25 top quality vacation rentals ranging from small cottages to large, luxurious ocean view homes. Our housekeeping team enjoys working in a quiet environment, independently and in pairs. Homes are located between Arcata to Trinidad. Job requires having a reliable vehicle and cell phone, ability to lift up to 25 pounds and do physical work for up to 6 hours a day. Looking to hire immediately for fill in positions and accepting resumes for other part time positions beginning in March as busy tourist begins. Must be available to work some weekends. Professional cleaning experience preferred. Hours and days vary but shifts are generally between 10 am - 4 pm. Mileage reimbursement and cell phone stipend paid in addition to hourly wage plus bonus program. Nice to share our local beauty with so many visitors!

Some big numbers here ... our magnificent redwoods are a true treasure to us ALL in Humboldt County!

More people visited Redwood National Park and spent money in local communities last year than in 2017, according to a recent National Park Service report.

The report shows that 482,535 visitors wandered the national park's old-growth redwoods in 2018 and spent $31,070,000 in nearby communities, according to a Redwood National and State Parks press release. That spending supported 423 jobs in the area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of nearly $36.8 million.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TRINIDAD MEMORIAL LIGHTHOUSE? Coastal erosion made it necessary to relocate the Lighthouse. The Cher-ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria came to the Trinidad Civic Club’s rescue when they offered a temporary location on their harbor property at the base of Trinidad Head. The Civic Club is conducting a major fundraising campaign to secure a permanent location for rebuilding the Memorial Lighthouse site to honor and commemorate those lost or buried at sea. trinidad.retreats wants to share this story Did you know ... that amongst the lush forest flores of the Northern Coastal Redwood Forests their grows a wild edible clover-like low lying ground cover. Redwood Sorrel has been a food source for Pacific Coast Natives for time eternal.

Special Note: this plant should only be consumed in "small quantities" as it can cause digestive issues if eaten in large amounts. But plucking a hand full and adding them to a sald will give the salad a "lemony zesty flavor." They are bitter on their own and should be washed before eating. ***Be sure to always research wild plants before picking or digesting. "The Encyclopedia of Edible Plants of North America" is a great guide!

While visiting the North Coast, stop in at the Trinidad Museum and see their Native Plant Garden.

Humboldt is filled with beauty & oddities. A local favorite is the banana slug. This beauty was found under a giant fern in Redwood Park in the heart of Arcata. Aptly named for their color, sometimes they even have brown spots like an old banana peal. These little guys are not your average slug, they can get as big at 9 inches long and can live up to 7 years long. 📷: .retreats
