Colorado Model Railroad Museum 🏞️ houses America's most scenic model railroad 🚂 and is the only one in the world 🌎 that operates like a real railroad for the public.

Visitors can stroll through this three-dimensional creation 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ while the railroad is in operation. They will be surrounded by rugged mountains ⛰️ with handmade features, including 16,000 fir 🌲, 8,000 deciduous 🍁, and 4,000 aspen trees 🌳. Rivers abound 🌊, and the scenery becomes three-dimensional art 🎨.

This museum is perfect for group tours 👫👬👭, as it has limited public hours, allowing for private group tours most weekdays. From June 9-15, this amazing group explored Colorado's stunning landscapes and attractions, visiting Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Cañon City, Frisco, Glenwood Springs, and Georgetown! 🌄🚂

The trip offered a wonderful immersion into Colorado’s rich history and breathtaking scenery. Activities ranged from rides on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway 🚞 to scenic drives 🛣️ and fantastic local dining experiences 🍽️.

History Colorado Thank you!

While the exact age of the Great Sand Dunes is unknown, geologists agree that the San Luis Valley’s strong southwesterly winds bear primary responsibility for their initial formation 🌬️

⏳ For untold centuries, prevailing winds have swept loose sand eastward over and across the floor of the valley, piling it near a series of three low passes that form a distinct pocket in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains: Music Pass to the north, Medano Pass in the middle, and Mosca Pass to the south. Funneled into these low passes by the broad flanks of Blanca Peak and the formidable barrier of the high Sangres, the sand-laden wind loses its momentum to friction and turbulence.

No longer capable of carrying its load, the wind continually deposits sand at the foot of the Sangres. This process slowly formed the iconic sand dunes we know today.
