A new partnership with the Switzerland Travel Centre has prompted an update to the guide on discovering which rail pass for Switzerland will be best value for money.
The choice of different options can be a tad bewildering, due to different mountain railways being covered by each pass.
There are also differences in how each pass can and can't be used on cable cars and funiculars - and some passes are also regional too.

The European train operators have delivered their early Christmas present of new train services.
So my festive fun tends to get erm replaced with updates required to 100s of items of content.
The in-depth travel guides have been ticked off, which leaves the more minor details to be adjusted, on the specific guides to taking popular journeys.
Highlights of the new timetable include the new and improved journey options on some of Europe's more beautiful rail routes:
1. Montreux and Zurich to Interlaken by direct trains
2. The number of trains doubled on the Stockholm - Oslo route
3. Through the Cinque Terre in Italy on a train from Vienna!
4. Breakfast by the River Elbe on the new night train from Switzerland to Prague

The timings on many of the journey guides will now need to be checked and updated over the comings weeks. Though adjustments to the major changes, which impact on entire routes, have been made as per the summary below.

Locations I've seen on screen have inspired many of my past and future journeys.
What caught my eye in the early series of were the recreations of the journeys taken by The Royal Train, also the scenes set in the Scottish landscapes and in Wales were also reminders of past travels by train.

A spotlight has been shone on the town of on the beautiful eastern coast of as it is the location for the second series of the hit TV drama
On the show the hotel guests arrived in Taormina by boat 🤔 but they missed out by not taking the train.
Two daily trains plus an overnight sleeper service make the spectacular direct to Sicily from Roma and Napoli.
The trains are loaded on to a ferry for the sea crossing from mainland Italy, so it's an easy way to go, but it's the hour after hour of incredible coastal scenery, which will linger in the memory.
