Founded 25 years ago in 1989 by Rosario & Victor Centro Flamenco stands today as the cornerstone of flamenco arts in Vancouver, having given birth to many of Canada’s top contemporary flamenco dancers while popularizing the form to unprecedented large audiences both at home and out-of-province. Called “the mother of flamenco in Vancouver” by the local press, Rosario was the recipient of the Mayor’s Art Award in Dance (2012) and the Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography (2009) amongst other distinctions as a testimony to her prolific career and unwavering dedication to the flamenco arts.
