When we moved into our new place, I stumbled upon a channel that plays Project Runway on repeat 🧵📺 Even though the show is almost 20 years old, I’ve never seen a single episode until now! 😱 I’ve been totally inspired ever since 🙌💡

For those who don't know, my family and I have been in a transitional mode while selling our home and moving to FL and my sewing machines have been packed away in storage for over a year.

Instead of just setting up my sewing space and getting back to my usual routine, I decided to push myself and draft my own patterns from scratch! ✂️📝 For years, I felt limited by commercial patterns, like I was stuck in a box ... 📦 I didn't feel I was capable of learning to make patterns of my own. BUT! After lots of research 📚 and determination 💪 I’m proud to say I’ve just finished my very first self-drafted shirt 👚 and customizable bodice block designed to MY exact, personal measurements 🙌🙌🙌💃💃💃 And I must say! Margarita is rocking it! 💃

This may be a simple shirt, but it opens up so many possibilities for what I can create next.

I’m beyond excited 🎉 and so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and going after something I’ve always wanted to do 🙌

😍 Omg, I'm kind of in love with her!

Doing some sketching tonight ✍️ designing a croquis to sketch my clothing ideas onto before bringing them to life with the help of Margarita Threadwell 🍹🧵🙌

💃 I feel like my croquis needs a name a well (and then some awesome clothes 🙌) and perhaps a face 🤔😄

What do you guys think? Help me come up with a suitable name for her 👇

🪡 Meet my new sewing assistant, Margarita Threadwell 🍹🧵 (modeling one of my me-made shift dresses 👗)

After over a year, I FINALLY have my sewing space set up again (well, at least 3 of my 6 machines 😅), and I'm SEW excited to introduce you all to Margarita. She’s here to help me drape my own patterns and bring my sewing ideas to life!

But! Margarita didn’t arrive with any of her own seams and was covered in a not so great velvety fabric that was hard to drape fabric onto... So before I could introduce her to you and put her to work, I had to get to work myself! I made her a custom cover, complete with Princess seams, front and back center seams, armhole placement seams AND bust and waist seams! It’s been such a fun and rewarding project, and I’m SUPER proud of how it turned out! 🤩

Now Margarita and I are ready to create 🪡🧵🙌🙌🙌
