🇰🇪 Kenya has announced they will go Visa Free and implement a new electronic system for travelers in 2024. Kenya is the first African Nation to go Visa-Free

💡 How to apply?
As of January 2024, international visitors must apply for an ETA prior to departing for Kenya. The ETA is a semi-automated online system that determines whether visitors are eligible to enter Kenya. It costs $34 per visitor, including infants and children.

It is recommended that travelers apply for the ETA at least three days (and up to three months) prior to departure.

The new travel advisory system was designed to give U.S. citizens more timely, clear, and reliable information regarding security threats abroad.

Under the new system, each country will have a corresponding numerical value, ranging from 1 to 4, which indicates that country’s current safety and security status. The new system provides reasons as to why the countries were ranked as such and offers specific advice to Americans who wish to travel to the given destinations.

The processing time improvements come just a month after the State Department revealed that wait times in October were 8-11 weeks for routine service and 5-7 weeks for expedited service.

In addition, the State Department also announced it broke a record for the number of passports issued over the last fiscal year, topping more than 24 million between October 2022 and September 2023, the most ever in U.S. history.
