Soviet Sunday: Bishkek's Victory Monument

This striking statue stands at the Victory Monument in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan—a dramatic and often overlooked relic of the Soviet Union’s WWII commemorative legacy. The monument honours the Soviet soldiers who fought in the Great Patriotic War, depicted here in motion, burdened with equipment but moving forward with purpose.

This week’s comes from Baganuur, Mongolia—once one of the largest Soviet military bases in Asia. Among the peeling paint and collapsed buildings, we uncovered this Soviet propaganda booklet, left behind decades ago.
