LiveTravelTeach began to chronicle my tale of living and traveling abroad. It is growing into a photography, teaching & traveling forum for tips and tales of the good and the bad that goes along with these adventures. I take my camera with me everywhere I go and provide a vibrant narration to accompany the photos on each adventure. Along the way I will try to give you advice on how to follow in my

footsteps should you choose to do so. My adventures often include hiking, backpacking and other outdoor activities but most recently they began following life working in a foreign country and dealing with the culture shock and other problems that come about. Follow this page if you are interested in travel, teaching or just want to read some great stories with stunning pictures!

I'm excited to be a guest writer for The Royal Tour Blog! I remember meeting Jonathan Berg when he was first starting the Royal Tour and have enjoyed watching his website grow. Check out my latest article about glacier experiences throughout Alaska and let me know which one you would want to visit most!

Editor’s note: it gives me great pleasure to introduce you all to Mike. One of the first bloggers I met when I began writing, Mike’s love for the outdoors and his home of Alaska offers a unique perspective that I’m thrilled he is sharing with all of us. Here, he talks about some ways to…

Today my 5th and 6th graders sent out about 50 letters to businesses requesting donations for a silent auction at Guido’s on December 10th. We spent a lot of time learning about persuasive writing, rhetorical appeals and letter format.

We are accepting all kinds of donations from tax deductible monetary contributions to goods and services we can auction off. Help our students go to Space Camp and 6th grade camp by putting the silent auction in your calendar.

Also, if you or anyone you know wants to donate to our camp fundraisers let us know!

Today only, 50% boosted donations when you help my students!

I want to make sure my students have exactly what they need to succeed, so I've created a project through DonorsChoose, the nonprofit classroom funding site for public school teachers.

Why I’m emailing you today: Right now, any contribution you make to my project will be boosted 50% by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This is an amazing opportunity for my students! Your donation will brighten my students' school year.

Here's my project: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/audio-equipment-to-create-student-podcas/7601755/

An easterly wind previewed tomorrow’s storm but promised calm seas today, and our best chance for a Kenai Fjords kayak to Northwestern Glacier. Fiona, our park ranger and defacto professor for this floating teacher workshop, checked with Captain Rob about our plans for the day. A report from the Gyre, our sister ship and research vessel for this expedition, coupled with the morning weather report made the decision to travel to Northwestern Fjord an easy one....

Digital nomadism is no longer just a phase. A report by Yahoo! on digital nomadism reveals that over 16.9 million American workers are already adopting this technology-enabled lifestyle. Additionally, the number of digital nomads compared to those working traditional corporate jobs increased by 9% in 2022, growing from 10.2 million to 11.1 million this past year alone. This shows that more individuals prefer flexible work arrangements, a trend forever changing how people work today....

The French Alps are a perfect honeymoon destination! Our trek around Mont Blanc began on a beautiful, bluebird day after an alpenglow sunset the night before.

The Alps are known around the world for their mountain majesty, famously home to year-round adventures at ski resorts on well-maintained trails.  When Elizabeth and I pieced together an itinerary for our…

The Bonanza Mine Trail reaches the mountaintops above historic Kennecott in Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Abandoned mining structures can be seen along this route as you ascend nearly 4,000 feet on a strenuous hike. Elizabeth and I won two nights at one of Kennicott River Lodge’s cabins in neighboring McCarthy, Alaska, and eagerly embarked on the hike to Bonanza Mine for our last of 3 days in McCarthy....

Chasing the northern lights has been a passion of mine ever since I moved to Alaska in 2017. I have captured some incredible night skies over the past four years and began dabbling in aurora videos too. Last night I was talking to a 6th grader at the open house who said the summer went by too quickly. I asked him if he could think of any words that describe that feeling and realized I couldn’t either! There are a plethora of words to describe the countless feelings as we start a school year as close to “normal” as possible. Can anyone think of a word that describes something that flew by?

To all the students and teachers out there. To my coworkers in BOOP, Bowman and of course my amazing wife,

I love that I found you, my perfect partner. My adventure buddy, my confidant. I love that we can spend a day in the mountains or a day at home with a board game, a good book or a recipe. Elizabeth Baldwin Still Knapp, it doesn’t matter how we spend our days, as long as I'm with you!

El Nido – Turning 30 in Paradise

El Nido is far and away the most paradisaical location I've ever had the pleasure of vacationing in. This Filipino Island is consistently ranked as the top beach in the world. After traveling to blissful places like Thailand's Koh Phi Phi and Philippines's Boracay's white beach before El Nido, I wholeheartedly defend El Nido's superiority. It was these very rankings coupled with dozens of reviews from friends and fellow bloggers that helped me pick El Nido as the destination for my… [ 830 more words. ]

To the doctor – Korea style

Going to the doctor is rarely a fun experience, unless of course you've got a cute nurse. Then again that was your doctor's office back home. In Korea going to the doctor can be a tough and downright frightening experience. Not being able to communicate means you don't understand whats wrong with you, what treatment you are getting and what the medication they give you does. [ 618 more words. ]

3 nights in Puerto Princessa, Palawan – Philippines

After a few day on Cebu Ronda and I departed for Palawan where my brother, Ben, was waiting for us in Puerto Princessa.
