Ever imagined of riding the oldest train in Borneo which passes through the once renowned headhunters’ tribe – The Murut? Well, guess what, we have the best river guides amongst the tribe to guide you down the raging water of Padas River, claimed to have the best rapids in South East Asia!
This exciting adrenalin’ rushing tour will take you down to wave that goes as high as six feet and thrilling rapids up to grade IV. Whilst rushing down this wild and untamed part of the Padas River you will experience totally untouched nature.
Padas River is situated in the interior of southwestern part of Kota Kinabalu that is only accessible by train (used since the late 19th century in Borneo). Basically, this trip will give you two experiences advantages - 1) Excursion of Class III-IV river, 2) A uniquely ride in an antique train.
The adrenaline rush excursion covers a distance of 10km of this rather muddy 200 km river that holds 8 exciting and tough rapids!
These rapid carries amusing names such as Merry-Go-Round Rapid, Snake House Rapid, Scooby Doo Rapid, Cobra Rapid, BBQ Rapid, Washing Machine Rapid, Lambada Rapid and Head Hunter Rapid. Each rapid will give you the feel of the motion as what the name means.
The journey will first take 1-½ hours overland through the countryside to Beaufort town. From thereupon, adventure begins with 1-½ hours train rides tracks along the Padas River that gives glimpses of the thrills and excitement to come. Upon arriving at the starting point, participant will be given safety briefing before going down the river.
The ultimate challenge will speak for itself as one shoots through and experiences the nerve tingling excitement which crescendos rapid after rapid while getting a closer look at the Borneo’s amazing flora and fauna. A professional cameraman will assist to taken photo and video while rafting.
After rafting, enjoy a sumptuous lunch by the river. Wind down with a sunset view of the return journey to Kota Kinabalu, along with presentation of certification of achievement.
Itinerary
05:45am - Pick up from hotel and transfer by coach to Beaufort Railway Station.
Signing of liability Release Form before the rafting commences.
07:30am - Arrive at Beaufort town, get onboard by train. The thrilling yet scenic ride will take around 1.5 - 2 hours to get to Pangi Station.
10:00am - When arrived at Pangi, light refreshment will be served, safety briefing will be conducted by Riverbug crew.
10:45am - Start rafting from starting point to Rayoh (ending point) - 10km.
12:30pm - Expected time of arrive at Rayoh (ending point) for sumptuous lunch and after lunch we will depart back by train to Beaufort town at 2pm, estimated 2 - 2 ½ hours on train ride.
15:45pm - Arrival Beaufort town and transfer by coach or van back to Kota Kinabalu city.
18:00pm - Estimated time of arrival in Kota Kinabalu.

Age limit for child is 12 years old and above.
Photos can be purchased from cameraman, it is RM150 included pendrive.
Please let us know if you have dietary request, e.g. vegetarian.
Recommended to bring: sandal with strap/sport shoes, short and T-shirt (not white colour), swimwear, insect repellent, sun-block lotion, change of clothes, towel, hat, extra pocket money.
People with heart disease, epilepsy or other severe disease are advised not to rafting.
Please prepare retainer for your glasses, and do not wear contact lenses.
Certificate will only be prepared upon request, please request it from RIVERBUG staff after rafting.
Liability Release Form MUST be signed.
