Thinking of warm places that you should really visit, and why not a bit of winter sun in Tunisia. One trip you should take is to El Jem and the Mosaics House. A few photos to inspire.

Morning All from (sorry),a sunny Monastir.
Great to read all the comments we are getting from our recent photos, thankyou.
As well as the photos, we always write up a piece to accompany the album of photos. This just helps explain a bit about what we have been up to. The photos on their own don't do this so we'll.

So, I thought I would show you how to get to see the text so you can have a quick read.

On the photo I have attached to this post, the album title is circled with a red line, in bold text. This is the album title. If you click on this (when looking at the photos on the post) it will take you to the photos and the text.

Happy reading, enjoy.

Have a lovely day, whatever you are up to, and wherever you are.

Love and hugs Simon & Sally

She is currently called Champagne, but we may change the name, any suggestions are warmly welcomed.

Good Afternoon......since our last update, when we were in Grand Harbour Marina Valletta and other Maltese anchorages, we sailed north to Sicily...checked in at Pozzallo with some tedious paperwork at the Coastguard Station, also to shelter from some winds.

We then went to the East Side to visit Syracuse for a few days, this is a fantastic old market town with its old city on a seperate island wonderfully surrounded by defensive walls.

After that we headed west to our old haunting ground of Licata to have some work done at our favourite boat yard, but also to avoid another nasty weather system.

From Licata we headed back to southern Malta, to a very sheltered anchorage where we are catching up on some DIY wood projects.....

Monastir Tunisia
We spent June - Aug '23 in Monastir Tunisia and found a very warm welcome and it tested our school level of French.
Whilst the marina surroundings are very touristy, not far away is the old walled city and this is very traditional along with some significant history.
We will however wait for our return visit later in the year to explore more, as it was too hot (it reached 49.3 centigrade) to do much at all apart from sweat and drink fizzy water!!!
The city allows for the majority of our needs. The Medina is best visited early morning before the heat and flies get up. The price of fresh meat and fish was excellent.
Whilst here we took the boat to Port Du Peche - the commercial fishing harbor, which also has boat yards. We needed to do some work on the rudder and keel, and a variety of other works. It was very important for us to bring everything we needed with us as parts are very difficult to get in Tunisia.
However, the yard workers are so skilled, that they can fabricate or recycle most things if the part is not available.
All in all, we were very happy here for our few months. We have made some good connections and met up with some old friends.
We are now off to do some sailing.....and our next update will be very soon...

Hi All
Yes we are still alive...being boiled alive with no air con on board!!!
Outside shade temperature 41.4 at 1000hrs this morning.
Not surprisingly, not alot happening here on board, just trying to keep cool....sleeping on deck is the way forward, thankfully no mosquitos here as it is too dry!!
Hope you are cool wherever you are??
Sunday afternoon BBQ and beers later with the other liveaboards.
Cheers

Exhausted and hungry we decided to treat ourselves on our first morning to breakfast....and then to walk it off we had a stroll around a small peninsula near the marina which must have had a boat dry dock with a ramp from the remains we found. Then a quick wander into town past a very impressive official residence.
It Ain't Half Hot Mum......for those of us at a certain age!!!

Leaving Sicily for Tunisia
What a wonderful sunrise, it would challenge any sunset, expect that it is 5am!!!
You will notice a number of boats that I will tell you about in the next post, but it's enough to say 'boy they are big and fast, and they don't answer the VHF radio'

Goodbye Licata and Sicily....thanks for the memories.
Tomorrow morning, early doors we will leave here for the first time, and hopefully end up, after 36 hours, in Tunisia.
Keep your fingers crossed for us.
We will miss this view from what is our garden view!!!
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Love Simon & Sally
