One of the first stories of the
touching of ones forehead to the ground before God ..
(.that is a part of Modern Islamic Practice .. )
was ... actually ... first done in Ancient Egyptian
and occurs in the so-called text
"The Book of the Heavenly Cow"
This is the famous and beloved story of the transformation of Hathor into Sekhmet - set in a time when the people have lost reverence and Ra summons the Neters or Natures or Gods, to him asking for help ...
" .... So these gods were brought right away, and these gods were positioned on either side of him, touching the ground with their foreheads in His Majesty's presence ... " (excerpt from book and one translation version)
This text has been found in its oldest in the intact tomb of
Tut-ankh-amen, but was written in Middle Egyptian indicating it comes from middle kingdom eara, and some suggest even the pyramid texts (Old kingdom - i.e. super old)
