Our program has been operating since 2013 and has proudly hosted over 3,000 abroad experiences for individuals as well as groups.

Thus far, we have supported over 200 project sites in Costa Rica. Hibiscus Travels is a local NGO, based and operated out of our program housing in Ciudad Cortés and Puerto Jiménez, Costa Rica. We are devoted to positive international cultural exchanges by developing individual and community potential in rural communities. About Hibiscus

Hibiscus Learning Abroad Experiences was officially founded in 2013 with our volunteer program. Prior to this, our founder independently coordinated large student trips for a multitude of university organizations.

Hibiscus was created to give travelers direct access to in-country staff who specializes in coordinating customized experiences for both individuals and groups.

Hibiscus operates throughout Costa Rica and has many valuable partnerships with both governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Hibiscus has successfully organized thousands of abroad experiences.

We believe learning does not always happen within four walls and that experiential learning is extremely valuable to higher education and personal growth.

What We Do

Hibiscus Travels specializes in student or group travel and offers participants customized travel arrangements for the following types of programs:

Student Trips: Hibiscus provides student trips with specific subject-fields and targeted learning goals in mind.

Service Learning: Hibiscus provides service learning through volunteering and internships. Participants may gain volunteer hours or internship experience abroad through our organized programs.

Language Learning: We prepare our students for living and teaching English abroad through our TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)Certification program. We also share the beautiful culture and language of Spanish with our students in our Spanish School.

Excursions: Hibiscus shares the beautiful scenery, interesting culture, and thrill-seeking adventures with our participants through our tours and excursions.

Hibiscus Learning Abroad Experiences works with governmental and non governmental organizations such as environmental conservation efforts, elementary schools, community shelters, animal conservation activists, and a myriad of other community service organizations to create meaningful abroad learning at an affordable price. We link University and High School students in the United States and Canada with these organizations in Costa Rica. Not only can you and your group make an impact on the world, you can do it with ease as Hibiscus Travels takes care of all planning aspects of your trip for you.
