I was in middle school when my family went to WDW for the first time, specifically Magic Kingdom. We were overwhelmed and definitely didn’t have the most ideal experience because of our plan and expectations. Then in my senior year of high school, I went back on a school trip. Fast forward time, I worked for Walt Disney World in college and now am a travel agent! With my past experience, here are some tips I’ve learned along the way.
1.) Download the My Disney Experience App. It will save you so much trouble in the long run.
2.) Educate yourself on the parks, but also don’t go into the experience with unrealistic expectations.
3.) Travel agents are 100% free! You are already paying for a travel agent within your package pricing whether you use one or not.
4.) Cups of water are free and you can bring in your own food of you choose to.
5.) If you can, staying on property is worth it.
6.) Disney’s Boardwalk is underrated. It is a perfect place for a date night or relaxing pause to your park adventures.
7.) Be aware of conditions that may be stressful to you or hinder your experience. If crowds overstimulate you, avoid holidays and spring break time. And maybe invest in Genie+ and mobile order your food. If you have specific dietary needs, look at menus ahead of time.
8.) Wear comfortable attire and shoes! Florida loves a good rain shower and it usually is cheaper to bring your own ponchos. Be caution if it does rain and you wear sneakers.
9.) Know your limits and your dynamic with the others you will be with. Plan a rest day if you need to! The slow moments at the parks, resorts, etc. are just as magical. Sit on the hub grass and have a picnic. Read a book at the pool. Order pizza to your room.
10.) When you let your inner child out and let yourself relax, the parks can be one of the most magical places.✨
