The idea was to go to Parma, but instead I waved Nathalie good bye when I stepped off the train at Bologna central. I had decided to visit Venice, even though it would be a short stay of 16h.

A 23 200 steps later I had taken a stroll through partly of the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Getting to Venice by train was easier than I thought. If you are staying in ex.g. Bologna/Florence/Milan and have some time over, I recommend to go with an early train and then take a a late train home.

On the Ligurian coast you have amazing nature, landscapes, beautiful beaches and the well-known focaccia and pasta pesto. ⛰⛵️

After a lot of research we found the hostel Ostello Bello in Genoa, which is located 2 minutes from the central station. The hostel is great and the location provides a quick access to visit more spots on the Ligurian coast. 🌊

Besides of Genova we visited Portofino, San Fruttuoso and Varazze. The nature was more than beautiful and you got the perfect fusion of relaxation and touristing. Our favorite town was Varazze, located an hour from Genova, with its palm trees, great food and wonderful shops.

If you go to Genova, don’t forget to try the ‘pasta di pesto’ and focaccia (specially ones from Foccacia e Dintorni) 🌱🧈

Take the train to one part of Amalfi or the boat to Capri - I’ll promise you’ll see some of the most beautiful landscapes and beaches. 🌞

Not only does Napoli [city] have so much to offer itself, but the transportation options you have to end up at these places are great!

Pictures 1-4 is Capri and 5-7 is Vietri on the Amalfi Coast.

We loved Puglia, especially the city we lived in - Trani. 🌺 To begin with, the village had more locals than tourists, so it was very calm and harmonic.

You could notice the authenticity of the white buildings with its unique architecture. We had nice walks around the town, something I’d recommend since you’ll see a lot of beautiful churches, piazzas and the harbor.

What you must eat is their fish and the famous Apulian Burrata. The most beautiful things with the beaches nearby are all rocks and caves, it’s something that we’ll never forget.

It was easy to get to Trani by train. However, a thing to think about is that you can’t find any taxis and only one bus. But if you take the public train one station away, to Bisceglie or Barletta, you’ll find more transport options. 🚂

Would you like to visit Trani and Puglia? I can nothing else than recommend that you should go! ✨

While in Puglia we decided to visit some beaches, and among these were Polignano a mare and Monopoli. 🏖They are quite close, only a few minutes between by train. Yet, I experienced that they differed quite a lot. Polignano was more “gathered”, it felt as if the city was surrounding, almost built around the famous beach that we visited. Monopoli on the other hand felt much bigger, like the city existed by itself separated from the beach.

In Polignano it was very easy to get to the beach from the train station, while in Monopoli you needed to walk quite a while. However, there were busses you could take - but they didn’t go that often and depending where you go it could look as if it was the middle in nowhere - so a tip is to check up where you want to go before you arrive. We went to Porto Ghiaccholo which was hands down one of the best places in Monopoli! ✨

Have you ever visited one of these places, and which one was your favorite? I’m to know! 🤩

Earlier this year I and my friend, Nathalie, decided to travel through Italy by train. 🚊Traveling by interrail was an optimal solution since we could be more flexible and spontaneous with our trip. Ex.g., the route you see here was our first idea, but last minute we decided to skip Como Lake and make some of our other stays longer instead. Which is the charm with train travel! You have the possibility to change your route if you so like. 🙏🏼

The pass I’m using is the “Interrail Global Pass; Continuous 1 month.” That pass gives me the opportunity to go to as many destinations as I’d like for 30 days! ✨

Tisvildeleje is the cute Danish little village 🇩🇰 where you get clear waters, soft dunes, and long sandy beaches. The water is shallow which makes the Tilsvilde area the perfect go-to place for kids and non-swimmers! 🌊

A perfect day trip from Copenhagen since you'll find it on the north coast of the island Zealand. For the full Danish experience, try to sn**ch a room at the fantastic or rent a little cottage if you're planning to stay longer. You'll love either, I promise 😁

Finish your day like a Dane and lay your hands on some . They're equally heavenly in flavors as for the eye. Pro tip: The licorice & raspberry is amazing! 😋

It's only 15 minutes by train north-east of Nice, and the train station is just by the ocean. Jump off and take a dip in the sea and stay for an afternoon. Or go for a hike on the Nietzsche path – a mountainous hike popular for its spectacular scenery and Mediterranean views 🤩⛰

You've probably heard about them, the exquisite miles of lavender fields of Provence – the place that has become synonymous with lavender.

If you want to surround yourself with the calming fragrance and the dusky purple hue 💟, there are 3 main locations to choose from.

💜 The Luberon Valley – the locals' favorite.
💜 The village of Sault – a 5 km lavender trail through the finest of fields.
💜 The Valensole Plateau – probably the most photographed lavender in the world. Easily reached as a day tour from Côte d'Azur.

Train Etiquette – 10 Essential Rules on the Rails ⛔️🚂✅

For us that didn't go to school in Switzerland (where train etiquette is taught in school 🤯) there are a few simple rules that work all across Europe.

1. Don't talk loud on the phone. Or, preferably, go to the vestibule.
2. Keep your shoes on. At all times!
3. Use headphones when watching videos or listening to music.
4. If you're traveling with kids – headphones are even more important.
5. Say hi to the person next to you when sitting down.
6. It's all good to eat – as long as the food doesn't smell or make any sound.
7. Bring your PJs if you're going on a night train.
8. Do your night routine on the station or in the toilet – not in the sleeping compartment.
9. Personal grooming & putting on nail polish is also done in the toilet.
10. And yes, it’s OK to give somebody who’s snoring a gentle push.

In all, common sense will take you far 💕 we’re traveling together so it’s up to all of us to try our best!

If you're around Naples, a visit to ancient Pompeii 🏛 is of course a must!

You've probably heard that this UNESCO World Heritage Site was buried by the eruption of the next-door volcano Vesuvius back in 79 A.D 🌋 but it got well preserved under the ashes. The excavated city gives a unique snapshot of Roman life, frozen at the moment it was buried.

It counts as one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy. So it's probably smart to visit in these times, with fewer people around.

And if you dare, there are buses from the train station to Vesuvius' top. The last time it erupted was in 1944, so most probably you're on the safe side 😉

There's been a lot of talk in town about Snälltåget's re-opened night train between Stockholm 🇸🇪 and Berlin 🇩🇪 and of course we love it!

So when you've explored Berlin's Biergartens, got filled with history, and had one too many Döner Kebab's, why not travel further down south?

Jump on the night train in Berlin and wake up well-rested for a nice breakfast in Zürich🇨🇭. Get on the scenic train ride further south to Milan 🇮🇹 here you'll switch trains and arrive in Naples just in time for an Italian dinner 🍕🍝🍷

The best way to fully experience the benefits with night trains – travel by night and explore by day 😍
