Hey Y’all! Happy Friday 😊 It’s time for another community spotlight and today we’re highlighting and their super unique small business! Cerealism is a “cereal bar” where you can feel like a kid again waking up on a Saturday morning! Their space is so fun and the desserts are delicious! We met the owner, Laterica, about a year ago and she was one of the first people to reach out in support while we started our Calling All Dreamers journey. She was so kind to offer us guidance throughout the process and we would not have gotten as far as we did without her support.

With that said, they are also facing some tough times and we want to offer our support. Cerealism is actively fundraising to save their business, so let’s do what we can to help out! Here is what Laterica had to share about their campaign:

“We urgently need your help to keep our business afloat. This past summer, we faced an unexpected challenge withe the lack of an air conditioning system in our space. This caused a significant drop in revenue. The the heat levels inside sometimes 10 degrees hotter than outside, made it difficult for customers to enjoy our space. Despite our best efforts to push through, the financial impact has been devastating. We’ve cut costs, tightened budgets, and exhausted every option, but without outside funding, we can’t recover on our own.

That’s why we’re turning to you through our crowdfunding campaign. Your support will help us cover essential repairs and rebuild from the losses we’ve suffered. We’ve come so far, and with your help, we can get back on our feet and continue serving the community we care so much about. Any contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference. Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time!”

Have you toured the historic Governor’s Mansion yet? It was built in 1877 and has 30 rooms and 3 stories! It was designated as a historic site in 1970. Governor Jerry Brown was the last Governor to live at the Governor’s Mansion!

(Not so) fun fact: When Arnold Schwarzenegger was Governor, he regularly commuted via private plane from LA to Sacramento! Not very eco-friendly of him tsk-tsk! Unlike our tours which are 100% electric! 😊🌏

Happy Sunday y’all! The last few years, we have been incredibly inspired by local artists, business owners, organizers, and our Sacramento community members. In order to share some of their stories, we are launching our first ever community spotlight series.

Today we are highlighting artist with , who’s photography and artisan goods are inspired by her roots in Brazil. Here is what Janine has to share:

“The emotional component found in my work probably derives from my personal history. I was raised by my grandmother around chickens, parrots, and a wood-burning stove. Growing up in this enchanted environment carved a deeply connective, soft spot in my heart. I have been drawn to the photography medium from the time my grandma gifted me my first camera at age ten. A small black box that could record life! That bright-eyed child wanted little else in life. More film please!”

You can check out work during Second Saturday!

Hey y’all, it’s Manushi here. I wanted to share a quick reminder that this is a proudly immigrant-owned business. So much sacrifice was made in order for Capital Tuk-Tuk to become a reality, and I know my story is similar to lots of other immigrants that enrich this country. My family and I have made tremendous contributions to the US and so have so many other immigrants (regardless of their status). Please take a moment to recognize these contributions and stand up for immigrant rights because they are human rights.
