Our absolute favorite beach on Koh Chang. A calm bay with a long lonely beach, away from it all.
The popular Varkala Beach seen from the cliff. This beach has a lot of activities, but still has plenty of space to spread your beach towels. Sun beds are available on parts of the beach, but otherwise there is not much shade. The sandy beach has lifeguards and is fairly clean. Waves can get big, so enjoy with care. 🌅
Fisherman boats and shacks along the beach. When the fishing boats come in with their catch, surfers paddle to the side and some will offer help hauling the boat up on the dry sand. This means a good and friendly relationship is maintained between visitors and fishermen sharing the same space. Edeva beach is one of the good surfing spots in Varkala and also a great beach to have a dip in the sea away from crowds.

For those of you not yet aware, Koh Phi Phi's famous 'Maya Bay' is closing for 4 months from 1 June to 30 Sept 2018. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife & Plant Conservation have said that the "rest" is necessary because the bay's fragile ecological system has been severely damaged due to huge numbers of tourist visits.
We've also heard that the Philippines' is closing its star beach resort Boracay for 6 months from the end of April.
Do you think more authorities should follow suit and close popular beaches & natural attractions in order to protect them?
