In the last months, the world has seen developments that seemed unthinkable just two or three years ago. War in Europe due to a senseless breach of humanity and international law. Societal and political developments aimed at the already discriminated against and most marginalized parts of our communities. Blatant attacks on basic human and medical aspects, such as reproductive rights, sexual orientations, choices of personal liberty. Fights we had already won, that now have to be fought again, all the while things like access to guns, etc. are on the uptick. Actual attacks on kids, LGBTQ+ communities happening… Oh, did I mention the climate crisis? The list goes on.
In lights of such events, it is very easy to give in to the heaviest of emotions, losing hope and giving in to despair. But I am no longer willing to do that. One thing has once again become very clear to me: If those in charge of the bigger decisions keep on failing us as humans, then it is time that we step in, and do our part. And talk about it.
2) We were able to hire two incredibly skilled and talented new staff from Ukraine, namely Daria Redko and Veronika Zhalnina. In a normal world, they would be active locally in their event production scope in Kyiv and West Ukraine, having worked for local festivals, promoters, and music managements. Due to the senseless aggression brought onto their country by a terror regime, none of that is possible of course. At the same time, us in Switzerland and central Europe are struggling massively for staff in the event industry. As such, we’ve had the pleasure to offer full time positions to Daria and Veronika since April, and it has been a win-win from the first minute on. My deepest amounts of respect, gratitude and love go to these two newest members of our staff, who are still in Ukraine, and have made our company simply a better place. The amount of resilience and passion they have brought to us as a company, and us as humans, is astounding. Thank you - and Слава Україні!
I encourage everyone to do the same: Make your moves, talk about it, show that there is enough will around to actually make this world a better place. We desperately need it.
