Let’s set the record straight about the time it REALLY takes to plan a destination wedding, family trip, reunion, or even a graduation party.

Of course, the size of the group makes a big difference, but even if the group is small, you should be giving yourself at least a year to plan, if not more. Why? Because often this gives you more choices on dates, time and location and great early bird offers with nice amenities.

For family reunions or large family vacation trips, I recommend a cruise. On a cruise, everyone gets a vacation (including moms!) No one needs to cook or clean up. There’s always plenty of activities so no one, even the kids, will get bored. There are also great activities for the adults and plenty of quiet places on the ship to reconnect with your loved one.

🔥MY HOT TIP: Book one to two years in advance to make your trip more affordable! Then, pass all your guests' details on to me so I can take care of all the nitty-gritty work - your job is done! There’s no collecting money that you’ll have to do, and I can even help you decide on the perfect destination for your group!

Last Tuesday, I touched on the 4 BEST methods to back up your travel documents, but WHICH travel docs do you back up and save?

You need your travel documents whether it's by boat, plane, or train - security is tight, and to top it off, we're probably going to be adding more documents like a negative COVID result or proof of vaccinations to the list. So let's get organized and have those "papers" in order.*

Depending on where you are traveling, you’ll want copy or scan and save the following:

• Passport (the identification page)
• Visa
• Travel insurance
• Driver’s license
• Health information (Basic medical or pertinent info)
• Credit cards
• Travel itinerary
• Airline tickets
• Hotel or lodging reservation confirmations
• Car rental reservation confirmation
• Cruise tickets
• Vaccination certificates / Negative COVID test
• Any other pre-paid confirmations

*You can also scan and make an extra copy of these documents to leave with a friend in case you don't have a computer or internet access. Your friend can email or fax what's needed to you.

🔥Here's my hot tip! If you don't have access to a scanner, you can use your smartphone. I use Adobe Scan (you can download for free) which takes a picture & saves a record of all my documents. Then I share the documents to a travel folder I create on Google Drive which can be accessed from anywhere!

Want to know the BEST backup method for your travel documents? There are 4, and guess what? None of them involve paper!

Ok, it happens, we sometimes lose things when we travel. (If you're my husband, more than you'd like to admit!) It's truly a hassle when you left your favorite sunhat in the back of a taxi, but it can be replaced. Travel documents, on the other hand, are a different story!

4 Best Backup Methods
Let’s be honest, printed copies are a thing of the past, even I still like to use printed itineraries! But not much is done on actual paper these days. The best thing to do is scan ALL your travel documents and store them electronically. You can then:

🛎️ Send them to your own email account (and perhaps to a friend’s as well).
🛎️ Store them on a memory stick and take that instead.
🛎️ Store them in your choice of online cloud.
🛎️ Store them on your portable device or laptop.

Electronic copies of all your documents will save you space and, if stolen, save you from a lot of frustration and worry. Remember to password protect your accounts and devices once you do so!

One of the best things bout traveling to new regions is discovering where our favorite foods or drinks are made. Wine country happens to be one of my favorites for many reasons: the landscape is gorgeous, the pace is relaxed and I swear, the wine tastes EVEN BETTER on vacation! 😋

We can hardly wait, right?! I have great news for you, the majority of cruise lines are hoping to start cruising by this July or August! There are a few companies that have already started in the Bahamas and another one that sails around England.

🚢 Many cruise lines require that everyone be completely vaccinated. So far reaction to this has been very positive. People feel safer knowing their fellow passengers have also been vaccinated.

🏝️ Currently overseas, only Croatia, Greece, and Iceland are open to tourists. We should begin to see more changes next month.

Remember, if you feel like travel may be a little more complicated post-Covid, you can rely on the help of a travel advisor like me to help with all the details to make travel fun and safe once again!

Here's a great Throwback Thursday memory for me: Caravan Camping! This is what my first days of vacationing looked like. Packing up the kitchen, hitching up the trailer, kids & dog literally in tow, and my husband swearing up a storm every time we had to park.🤣 Those were the days. Our tastes definitely change as we age! (Thank goodness!)

✨HERE'S A TIP: Search 'packing checklist' on the web and you'll find one that works for you that you can print out or download. You don't have to go through the hassle of creating a list, and I guarantee you won't forget a thing!

Wondering HOW MUCH to pack? Here's my rule:

For a shorter trip (3-5 five days): do one pair of underwear and socks per day, one pair of pajamas, one to two dressier outfits, one to two activewear or athleisure outfits, one to two casual outfits, and one to two pairs of shoes.

For a longer trip (over a week), do one pair of underwear and socks per day, two pairs of pajamas, three dressier outfits, three to four casual outfits, two pairs of shoes, and two activewear or athleisure outfits.
If you can do laundry while on vacation, maybe even less!
