'The Jailhouse Craft Beer Bar Set to Reopen and Announces Plans for Move & Expansion'
Buena Vista, CO -- March 22, 2021 -- After more than a year closed, The Jailhouse Craft Beer Bar will reopen its doors on Main Street in Buena Vista on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 4PM. The Jailhouse will operate on limited hours, Wednesday - Saturday 4-10PM.
The bar temporarily shuttered in March 2020 due to COVID-19 mandates and capacity restrictions. Some restrictions will be in place upon reopening, with The Jailhouse operating at 50% capacity under Chaffee County’s Level Blue status.
“We are so excited to finally reopen The Jailhouse! It has been a long year filled with uncertainty and unknowns on if we would ever be able to open our doors,” says Jailhouse owner Sarah Stewart. “The Jailhouse is a gathering place, a space for our community to come together. And a very small space. The previous capacity restrictions made it very difficult for us to justify operating.”
The Jailhouse is a quaint, sub 1,000 sq ft, historic building that is charming but challenging during a global pandemic. Stewart says the best nights are the ones where the bar is packed, events are happening, and people are mingling.
“With being shut down, we had a lot of time to reflect. We love The Jailhouse but it’s time to make some changes,” says Stewart. “This reopening is also temporary. On May 10, 2021, we will be closing permanently with the intention of moving and growing our bar in a space just down the road. While we are closing The Jailhouse chapter, we are stoked to have the opportunity to expand both our footprint and concept in Buena Vista.”
Following the closure of The Jailhouse, Sarah and her husband Shane Stewart, will be transitioning their concept to a historic 1890s building just off of Main Street at 113 N. Railroad Street. The brick building is two stories, nearly three times the size of The Jailhouse, and features a historic lift used for dry goods during its time as a mercantile.
“The new space on Railroad will still be craft beer focused, but with more taps, more wine, and with the addition of spirits and cocktails,” says Shane Stewart. “We can’t wait to share this new place with our friends and community!"
