Feel the presence of the Bushmans’ spirits while the Elephants trumpet in the background and the sun sets over the Limpopo River, it’s last rays touching the branches of the magnificent Baobab trees and the koppies along the river banks.

Hundreds of storks circling the Reserve looking for frogs. The reserve looks magnificent after the rain and we had great game sighting on Tuesday; gemsbok, lots of wildebeest with young, elephant and leopard.

Tuesday evening in a packed 'At se g*t' in Alldays, an overwhelming amount of landowners and local communities have decided to organise themselves in one of the largest private conservancies in the country.
In total approximately 120,000 hectares following the Limopo River Mapungubwe Private Nature Reserve all the way to Zingela Private Game Reserve are going to join forces and gradually become one area. One of the objectives is to form a strong front against the manipulation of mines what is about to cause devastating effects on our agricultural resources and tourism industry, whilst at the same time create, what is perceived by many as, the New Kruger Park.

More information will follow!

The first solar plant project has started near Vivo. A welcome sensible sustainable alternative to coal mining. The local land claimants have stated to prefer this land use of coal mining as well!

Download the App "Africa: Live" (free) and mark your game sightings on every location you are via your phone. Very handy!

Last night at Somerville (Mapungubwe Private Nature Reserve) it was both magical, stunning but then hectic.
The large herd (parade) of ellies that have been staying close to Somerville paid a visit to the water hole. With a nearly full moon the sight at the water hole was magical. 30+ ellies all drinking and eating. I could make out 3 or 4 very young calves who were making lots and lots of noise, trumpeting!
After about an hour they were still here, so I left them to it and went to bed.
The following morning I was woken by a sound not heard at Somerville for some months.......Southern Ground Hornbill and not to far from the homestead.
A very iconic sound in the African bush.
However when I stepped outside I found that the ellies had dismantled a couple of water pipes. Such is the life in the bush. I wouldn't swop it it for anything.
