No. I’m not an Alabama fan. But found this interesting as I was watching Alabama and Michigan tonight. Did you know? In 1926 Alabama played the University of Washington Huskies in yes….. the Rose Bowl!! The Star of the game was a kid from Dothan, Alabama named Johnny Mack Brown, an All-American running back for the University of Alabama who was lauded for his efforts in a stunning upset of the heavily favored Huskies. However, Johnny Mack Brown never returned home. A Hollywood director, King Vidor, recruited Brown to take a screen test and Brown went on to a successful career as an actor in film and television.
John Tyler, America’s 10th President, was born in 1790 just after the American Revolution. He has a living grandson. Yep, we said grandson.
John Tyler's son Lyon Gardiner Tyler Sr. was born in August 1853, when the former president was 63 years old. Then His son Harrison Ruffin Tyler was born in November 1928, when his father was 75 years young. Harrison is now 95 and living in a nursing home. He is also a descendant of Pocahontas! Wild isn’t it?

Here’s a memory a kid will never forget — and a Florida tradition. My friend Chris let the folks at Gatorland put his son Nathan on a live gator a couple weeks ago. Fun fun fun….

My signed print of the “Creature from the Black Lagoon” cult classic starring Ricoh Browning as the creature and Julia Adams as the beautiful ichthyologist (scientist studying fish) Kay Lawrence. In 2003, both were together again at a “Creature” reunion in Tallahassee, Florida.
On 11-11 at exactly 11:11 am, every Veterans Day, the sun aligns perfectly with the Anthem Veteran’s Memorial in Arizona to shine through the ellipses of the five marble pillars representing each branch of the Armed Forces, illuminating The Great Seal of the United States!
Oh, so true!
Amazing!
I pass by this old mailbox every day. The old rusty box is nailed to an oak that has to be 100 years old. After years of passing it by, I decided to open the box to see if anything was inside.
After all, there isn’t even a house nearby to which it could serve anyway. Any home it serviced long ago is torn down, I’m sure.
I noticed an old letter inside the box, as you can see in the second picture. I looked at the postmark date, which to my surprised astonishment was actually readable, and it said July 7, 1958.
Ever so carefully I opened up the aged, crackly envelope and gently pulled out the folded piece of paper - almost tingling with excitement and anticipation. Here is what the letter inside said. “We have been trying to reach you concerning your vehicle’s extended warranty.”

Saw this old Plymouth in Gainesville, Georgia today at Kroger. He was having a time getting it in gear. Stalled out a couple of times which gave me time to snap a pic. Cool car though.

This is one of Florida’s earliest toll booths. This one was located on Big Pine Key (1938 to 1954)and was part of the Overseas Highway stretching 113 miles from the tip of the Florida peninsula to Key West. It was built over the former right of way of the Overseas Railroad which was partially destroyed by the “Great Labor Day Hurricane of 1935.” Unable to rebuild, the Florida East Coast Railway sold the roadbed and remaining bridges to the State of Florida for $640,000.
