We have been back in USA for 3 weeks with family 🩷🙏🙌🏻☀️ a few more weeks here and then we head to Mexico. I hope everyone is enjoying their summers! We sure are enjoying being back on this side of the world for a little bit 🙏 we head back to mongolia August 8th 🇲🇳

When you graduate from kindergarten in 2 countries! In March we were still living in Nepal and Zilly graduated from kindergarten to 1st grade at her school there. This week she graduated again to 1st grade at our school here in Mongolia! She is officially ready for grade 1!! 🎓🇬🇧🇲🇳🌎

A year ago we left the usa again to head back into the world to spend time all together, and make amazing things happen. No work just play. In this last year we have been to 12 countries and have done some unimaginable things. And somehow at the end, we ended up living in mongolia. Today a year later, river flies to the USA and Mexico for the summer. And we follow in one month. My head is spinning thinking of all we have done this year and everywhere we have been, everyone we have met, taught and learned from, everything we have seen, felt, conquered, created, learned, and loved, together 🌎❤️🙏 all of the surprises along the way, all of the paths that led to new paths and all Of the karma that kept us safe. All of the sunrises and sunsets. Mountain peaks and oceans, friends. Schools. Homes. All of our support system and all of the people inspired by us. And all of the people that inspire us. Inside Himalayas for allowing me to write my words for them. My editors, My PhD advisors for their patience with me on dissertation chapter 3, zillys didi, and her many teachers and friends, our enlightened globetrekker teams and staff, Karma Sherpa for rivers first summit. Our global friends and family, podcast hosts, invitations to give talks, Rivers Everest support team, and our friends back home who always visit us in remote places and then always wait patiently for us to return. With goodies from every country and stories that never end. 🙏

Namaste! For everyone wondering about River’s plans and what happened last month, something is being published in a magazine about it and we need to wait for that to release in April or May before we discuss. This week she did an amazing global podcast that will air in April based on inspiring females around the world that we are excited about. So, please stay tuned as we enjoy this downtime and regrouping time in Mongolia, and as we plan what comes next on this journey to Everest. The biggest news is that she is graduating early in December (with a high school degree and a Spanish minor in college complete!!) which frees up the spring for climbing in Nepal and possible Everest 2025. She is deciding right now how she feels about everything that happened and when she will be ready to tackle a summit again. Obviously, Everest will no longer be this spring as planned. The last few days in Kathmandu were filled with saying goodbye to all of our beloved friends there. I love this one of Maya and her family. In Nepali, Maya means love. This last year we usually saw each other everyday at some point to spread love and share coffee and happiness ❤️🇳🇵🙏

Zillys last day of school in Nepal ❤️🇳🇵🎂 what a fun interesting incredible cultural kindergarten year that was. Loved her little school so much 🙏 so proud of my brave girl. Her biggest sacrifice was eating rice for lunch everyday. she has wonderful memories and she bridged the cultural and linguistic gap wonderfully. Well done princess zalia ❤️

One component of all Enlightened Globetrekker Adventures expeditions is humanitarian aid and giving back. Everyone who comes on a trip here in Nepal is encouraged to raise funds for the causes that we sponsor here. Over the years we have adopted two remote village schools and paid teacher salaries, provided supplies, paid for all children’s uniforms and warm jackets and warm shoes, etc. This week we were honored for our hard work and commitment to one of the schools: Gandruk. I very humbly accept this on behalf of Enlightened Globetrekker Adventures participants and this fills my heart like few things can. It is cracked from carrying it on the 3 day journey to me from the village, which makes it even more special. Remember in all you do to always give back no matter how much you have. It is always more than someone 🌎❤️🙏 A biggest thank you to our amazing expedition teams who support us in continuing our support for Nepal. This is for you all. 🙌🏻 Major thank you in addition to those who collected it in Gandruk and trekked it all the way here to Kathmandu ❤️

Namaste, For those of you following along on Rivers summit, We have an update. She was emergency evacuated from a remote Himalayan area in the Everest region on the way to Mera Peak, called Thule Karka (14,500 ft), due to several issues. The previous day to evacuation she trekked across the dangerous and remote Zetra La pass (15,200 ft.) The next morning, evacuation was immediately necessary. Amidst barely any phone signal and a desperately remote location with weather moving in, I planned an emergency evacuation immediately.

This was a traumatizing series of events due to a neglectful Sherpa and we don’t know what the future holds for her project right now. We are just thankful that she is back home safely here in Kathmandu before something tragic happened. In the coming months we will be working on restoring trust in order to proceed with her mountaineering. The relationship of Sherpa and climber is very necessary and fragile at high altitude and must be solid in order to endure emergency situations together. We will update as events unfold.

My lead Nepali guide for our Enlightened Globetrekker Adventures Everest Basecamp expeditions, and also my Nepali nephew Arjun Simkhada, got married this weekend in Kathmandu. The wedding was a reunion with all of our past expedition sherpas and guides from all the years of having expeditions here. Seeing everyone dressed up, being part of the real life here, and having real Nepali family here, who protects each other, includes us, and loves us like no other, is the biggest blessing of my life. They are there for my girls at all times as uncles and aunties, and they always keep us safe, teach us new things everyday, and share the universal experience of life. This is at the heart of what Enlightened Globetrekker is all about. To see Arjun develop into the man and husband he has become is a purest source of pride and gratitude and happiness for me. If he is any kind of husband even close to how he takes care of my teams and family at the top of the world, then Mandira is the luckiest girl alive. Dhanyavaad Arjun thank you for everything you do for us and for the humble, kind, and beautiful person you are. Congratulations nephew!! ❤️❤️🇳🇵🎉🏔️
