We had a lovely family staying with us this weekend who were celebrating their sons 18th Birthday...so of course we had to celebrate that!! 🎉🥳💙

A lovely little note and gift left by one of our regular sets of guests this week..what's even better about this though is the fact that this couple and their lovely doggy have stayed with us multiple times now and have even booked multiple nights for the rest of this year and next year too! That really is the greatest praise and appreciation we could receive! 🌊💙

Whitby Swing Bridge opening this morning to let the pleasure boat Esk Belle III through this morning! The distinctive yellow boats are run by Whitby Coastal Cruises and we can't recommend them highly enough! 🚤 ⛵️

The current Whitby Swing Bridge is believed to occupy a crossing point on the River Esk that has been used since the early 14th century by a series of openable bridges designed for allowing the movement of shipping on the river. The current swing bridge was builtl as a replacement for an earlier swing bridge dating from 1834.

Don't forget that Whitby is just a 25 minute drive from Storm Cottage and brimming with history, culture, quirky shops and fantastic places to eat! 🌊 🏖 🌊 🏖

Paul is holding his annual Westfield Vintage Tractor Road Run this weekend! A small, vintage tractor run, enjoying the views of our rugged North East coastline and taking in the stunning sights of the North York Moors whilst raising vital funds for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution. RABI provides invaluable emotional and financial support for struggling farmers and their families.

🗓 - Sunday 1st June 2025

⏰️ - 9.45am set off

📍 - Westfield Farm, South Loftus, TS13 4JU

💰 - £15 per tractor, £5 per passenger.

🫖 - Bacon sandwiches, tea and coffee provided at the start.

🍽 - Bring your own dinner/bait

🎫 - Small raffle being held, £1 per strip.

🍰 - Cold drinks and cakes being sold at lunch time £1 each.

For those wanting to watch the tractors and give them a cheer and a wave then they will be heading through Loftus market place at approximately 9.45am, and heading through Skinningrove approximately five/ten minutes later! 🚜🚜 🚜🚜

Last Sunday we sponsored Fylingdales Cricket Club under 15s teas at a home match against Glaisdale Cricket Club. Over £170 was raised by providing bacon sandwiches, homemade sausage rolls, baking and teas and coffees.

Fylingdales CC are currently raising much needed funds to not only keep the club going, but also to purchase training nets which will help the performance of all players..from primary school age children, right up to the senior players. 🏏🏏

It's nice to be able to support local causes where and when we can. We've only been open for 18 months, and in that time we have donated to at least five local fundraising causes, three of which we gave away free holidays with us at Storm Cottage 🐋 💙

As I always say to my son, " It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice" ❤️
