Hilton enthusiasts will soon have a new all-inclusive option on the beaches of the Dominican Republic. And there's no reason to wait to begin planning your summer vacation because this resort is taking reservations now ahead of its summer 2025 opening.

When it opens June 30, the Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton will become the first all-inclusive property in the Dominican Republic under the Curio Collection by Hilton brand. It will also be the 10th Hilton all-inclusive property in the Caribbean.

Located about 60 miles from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in the coastal town of Miches, this 500-room all-inclusive resort overlooks the clear waters and sandy, white shores of the secluded Playa Esmeralda.

Here are some Caribbean countries that have moved away from stamping passports for U.S. travelers, opting instead for electronic systems or alternative documentation:

1. Aruba - Provides an electronic entry record rather than a physical stamp.

2. Bahamas - Primarily records entry and exit electronically, especially at major airports.
I found customs at Port and got my stamp

3. Barbados - Often uses electronic records at entry points.

4. Bermuda - Generally issues an entry slip rather than a passport stamp.

5. Cayman Islands - Uses electronic systems to record visitor data.

6. Curaçao - Provides an entry document rather than stamping the passport.

7. Sint Maarten - Uses an electronic immigration system and may avoid stamping.

8. Turks and Caicos Islands - Typically uses electronic records instead of stamps.

9. Jamaica - Uses electronic systems to record visitor data

While these countries may skip stamping in most cases, travelers should be prepared as there may still be instances where passports are stamped, depending on the airport, immigration officer, or specific entry circumstances.

Have you ever experienced a room change on your cruise? Well this is why

Carnival has recently implemented a practice of reassigning staterooms to optimize capacity prior to embarkation.

If you book a stateroom with a maximum capacity higher than your party size, Carnival may reassign you to a different room within the same category but with a lower maximum capacity. This shift disregards the premium you may have paid to select your preferred room in advance and often results in a downgrade in room location.

For example, a couple books a mid-ship balcony stateroom, Room 7212, on the Carnival Legend six months in advance and pays in full. The room, a Category 8E, accommodates up to four people and offers a prime mid-ship location on Deck 7. However, about 40 days before sailing, Carnival anticipates high occupancy and decides to move the couple to Room 8264, another Category 8E room, but with a maximum occupancy of two people and situated at the back of the ship under the bustling Lido dining area.

Carnival cites the cruise contract, which permits them to change room assignments at their discretion.

In essence, if your selected room can hold more guests than are on your reservation, the specific room number you initially chose becomes "To-Be-Determined" (TBD) within your booking category. Selecting a room in advance no longer guarantees that room, and with high demand, this practice is becoming increasingly routine.

It borrows from the fairy tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, where Goldilocks looks for things that are not too extreme, but just right. In travel, the Goldilocks period often means the optimal time to visit a location, balancing favorable weather, lower crowds, and more affordable prices.

This period is not necessarily the peak season, when destinations are most crowded and expensive, nor the off-season, which might have bad weather or fewer activities available. Instead, it's usually during the shoulder season, right before or after the peak travel season, when conditions are ideal for many travelers.

Examples:

Visiting a beach destination when it's warm enough to swim but not during peak summer.

Traveling to Europe in late spring or early fall when the weather is pleasant but without the heavy tourist crowds.

Going on a Caribbean cruise right after the hurricane season but before the winter rush.

Finding the Goldilocks period helps travelers make the most of their trip while avoiding the downsides of extreme crowds or unfavorable conditions.
