For the last eighteen months or so, as time permitted, I have been working on a small pet project, producing the first in a series of fifty-thousand word audio books, also available, as Kindle downloads, but primarily aimed at audio and podcast listeners...the idea is to treat individual episodes and stories as stand alone themes, in the belief, I suppose, that no-one really has the time these days to invest in the enormous tomes of yore that beat the panels of history from alpha to omega. Taken as a whole, as I add to them, I hope that a comprehensive, but very personal journey through the history of this burdened but beautiful region will come to light. They are all available on Amazon and on Audible, and also, of course, on my website, peterbaxterhistory.com...!

Just a heads-up for those who downloaded my Rhodesian history when it was on promo, and there were several hundred of you, don’t forget to give me a review on Amazon, and any comments or corrections direct to the email address supplied. Thanks!

The full omnibus edition of my Rhodesian history, all 650 pages of it, in three parts, is on Amazon Kindle Free for five days, starting September 8 2018. Looking for feedback and reviews, mainly the latter. It is not by any means a sentimental hagiography, and no one comes out unscathed, but an objective look at a fascinating historic saga of the British imperial period in Africa. It has been reworked, but not pushed through the production mill yet, so any typos or errors please let me know. Download it free on Amazon for five days staring September 8. It is still available in hard-copy in South Africa and Zimbabwe, but if it generates any interest I will put it out in paperback. Thanks, and again, reviews, reviews, reviews…

Before there was Zimbabwe, there was Rhodesia, a British colony founded by the great capital imperialist Cecil John Rhodes, and administered by the British South Africa Company. Rhodesia was the last British territory in Africa, and the most difficult to divest. This is the story of a gifted land...

I am putting out my Rhodesia history in Kindle. It is such an indigestible mass that I have broken it up into three parts. Any interested can find it for pre-order. This is part one, and parts two and three will follow fairly soon. Any typos or anything like I would appreciate hearing about.

This is Part I of the story of the British Colony of Rhodesia, forerunner of the state of Zimbabwe, covering events from the founding of the colony by British capital-imperialist Cecil John Rhodes to its establishment as a British Self Governing Colony in 1923. Renowned author and historian Peter...
