The Kamare Bridge is one of the most important historical and architectural monuments in Librazhdit, standing out for its unique characteristics and strategic position over the Shkumbin River. This bridge is located in the village of Mirakë in Librazhd, in the district of Elbasan, and has a history and cultural value of man.
Built around the year 1600, the Ura e Kamares served as a key element on the ancient Egnatia road, being positioned at a strategic point in the direction of this road. This makes the bridge of particular importance in the context of transport and trade links in the countries of its construction.
Designed with architectural thinking, the Kamare Bridge is the result of the work of the Albanian artist Kas Imari. This Albanian engineer and architect has his influence on many architectural projects at the time when Albania was under Ottoman rule.
The bridge itself has architectural and decorative elements that give it a special look. Its strategic position, on a branch of the Egnatia, shows its importance in the historical context and its role as a protective and connecting element on important roads.
Today, Ur Kamares continues to be a point of local history and culture, attracting researchers who want to get to know them better by visiting the rich area of Librazhd and Elbasan.
