I had a great time watching the Prairie Chickens when I traveled to Nebraska a couple years ago. They are stomping around looking for ladies at this time of year.

Just when we were doubting the Prairie Chickens would come to the lek due to the weather, in they came.

What a difference a day makes! Yesterday our high was 77 degrees. Today the only thing that seemed to come close was to 77 was the wind. But still the birds come to the lek.

We're told that the tail feathers are like a fingerprint and can identify the different birds on the lek. The feathers of this Greater Prairie Chicken, or lack there of, are proof of the competition between the roosters as well.
